Hi guys If someone could be my accountability partner I would be so greatful. I hate porn and want it out of my life. A bit about me: I'm a graphic designer/artist and game developer, bible reader evangelist when social, football player and music lover ( mostly Christian rap, rock, Hillsong, Matt Redman and R&P) I do listen to a bit of secular but cut out swearing etc.

I will be in contact with you daily or every second day through any one or two of the following;
1. CC site
2. Viber
3. Whatsapp
4. iMessage
5. App that works on iPhone

Thank and I appreciate your prayers and love.

I think that is a great idea. We call them soul friends in the Celtic Tradition. One thing I should point out, a Soul Friend should be someone you trust and probably someone who isn't the opposite sex. With that said, if you ever need someone to talk to I'm always available to listen.

And I will also be here when you get beyond this "accountability partner" notion. It initially will do a little bit of good, but it is a "band aid" approach, and not really a viable answer.

Hi,

I thought having an accountability partner helps. I've heard of many men who through prayer and accountability were able to be free from porn. Doesn't the bible say to stay accountable, to confess your sins. To love one another as Christ loved the church. Am I missing something?

I'm not fighting with you I'm just asking an honest question. Weren't Jesus disciples accountable to Jesus and Pauls followers. What about the church's Paul wrote letters to? Where they not also writing letters and keeping Paul up to date on their well being?

Anyways I appreciate your response.

Have a great weekend.

I am convinced that an accountability partner will work wonders for you, but there are certain perimeters you need. Jesus is first and foremost and last. What you need is a friend, someone you can talk to face to face. Jesus does put us in families and He knows what we want and need, and someone from the bride of Jesus that we know and can see is preferable to someone we can not and only know by what they let us know through technology.

Saying all that, I do have one myself through an online connection. What they say or do not say brings so much joy and peace for me. I do not share every fall or slip, these are for the lord to handle, only Jesus can lift me from the mire of my life and being in constant repentance when I am convicted by His Spirit is a challenging way to live and keeps me on the narrow path.

There must be a Spiritual connection between you if this path is to bare fruit for Jesus. He is the one it is all about anyway, Jesus is the guide and counsellor we all need to bring us to Father in Spirit and truth. Laying yourself open to another human is a hard thing to do, even when we trust them. A life partner like husband or wife is the same thing. There must be a connection on love, and in the unity of the Spirit of God, then can we "confess our sins and pray for one another".

To live like this is challenging as I have said, receiving the grace God has for us through repentance is fulfilling and helps us grow on our journey to full maturity in Jesus. I pray you will find your friend in Him who calls us "friends", as has been said within this thread, make sure they are the same gender as yourself, and willing to bear your burden as you will have to be in bearing theirs, but the most important ingredient is Jesus. The Spirit will let you know when you find them whether on line or in your church.
God bless .

I think the point he is making is although it may help some, it doesn't address the root of the problem, and since the heart is desperately wicked, you WILL find some other way to satisfy the lust, even if you manage to stay away from porn.
Not saying it isn't a great thing to do, but I bet you can pull up porn images that you have viewed before using nothing but your mind and satisfy the lust.
A Victoria's secret ad could trigger, a girl in a bikini at the beach, and so on. So until the root sin is dealt with (the realization that it already has been) you WILL struggle.

May God bless and open your eyes to the finished work of His Son.

An absolute fact. And the only way to begin to understand what you really need to do with this thing.

Hi my accountability partner isn't available or hasn't replied in quite some time, could someone else be my accountability partner?

One of the best selling books and Christian sites confirm that having an accountability partner is important. Godly Sorrow and reliance on the Lord Jesus Christ through prayer lead to freedom. Those that say accountability is wrong have just been proven wrong by "Finally Free" book and "Every Young Man's Battle" along with X3Watch.

If anyone would be willing to keep me accountable that would be great. God bless and hope everyone is well.

Sadly there are a lot of people that just like to add their comments without any real concern, compassion or factual evidence for their claims while I've read best selling books about this and both say having an accountability partner is important.

If anyone would like to be my accountability partner that would be great, no details will be given. I'm just doing what is advised by books. As I've said my accountability partner isn't available.

You've just proven, for yourself, one of the failings of the idea of an "Accountability Partner."

Listen to Willie, he's a very smart man. :) And ask GOD to be your accountability partner. Humans aren't always available, but God is. :)

Do a search under my name for "Eyes of Honor", then come back here and restate that post.

Jon my concern is hat you were quite flippant with your approach. I'm just disappointed as I thought Jesus called us to walk in love and I don't feel that from you. Here I am wanting help and you give me disapproval for wanting help.

Finally Free by Heath Lamber

"Eagerness to be clear of pornography expresses itself in two practical ways. First, you pursue accountability. You need help in a struggle that is impossible to fight alone. Accountability entails enlisting other Christians who can help you think about strategies you have not considered, who can actively check up on you, and who will diligently pray for you. Second, eagerly seeking to clear yourself means you pursue radical measures to ensure you have no access to pornography. This enslaving sin is only defeated by drastic measures to cut it off from all angles. Accountability and drastic measures will be discussed in greater detail in later chapters. For now, know that if your sorrow does not lead to opening yourself up to others and sealing off your access to pornography, then your sorrow is the kind of worldly sorrow that leads to death."

Being smart doesn't mean he knows God. I've studied scripture for over ten years, apologetics and evangelise on occasion but none of this means anything if I have no love.

I gave up coddling people long ago. Accountability doesn't work, long term, and you might as well hear that right now.

Did you click on the "JonTalking" link, or do the search I suggested?
