Hello brothers and sisters. My name is David, I am in the military and am about to compete in a MMA tournament within the military. This is a system of MMA which is used on the battlefield and these tournaments are designed to improve combat efficacy within ground troops. It is not sport fighting or civilian betting matches or anything like that.
That being said, these matches get very, very intense by their very nature.
I am asking that you would pray for me. I have had some significant injuries and while I realize that injuries are unavoidable I am praying that I will escape severe injury and that I will perform in a manner that glorifies God.
I also pray that I would be able to get as lean as possible before my fights, there will be several fights the first day and potentially several days of matches depending on my performance.
I understand some people may be uncomfortable with the idea of fighting, but this is a necessary component of our military operations and this tournament and others like it can only improve our ability to win wars.
Also I would love to remind you to say a prayer for the families of the fallen during Memorial Day this year. Remember that in current conflicts we continue to lose soldiers, airmen and marines as well as the special operations personnel serving throughout the world. Please say a prayer for the ones that they leave behind.
