I try to spend time reading my bible - usually before I go to bed (nice quiet alone time) and before I do I ask the Lord to open my mind to understand and heart to receive it - even if it is just 10 minutes - I believe this will really help - maybe you would rather do this in the morning before you start your day. Don't allow Saton to still your Joy - Let's pray Jesus will be here soon - God Bless you - stay encouraged 
Praying that all that is the joy and peace of Jesus shall fill and comfort and delight you.
I have found the best way to find understanding in the world is to get to know Jesus first, one does better with understanding stuff when one walks next to Jesus, not by their self.
Psalm 23 is my fave for understanding how Jesus is always with us.

As has been said: Pray and read the bible
The short answer however, is: Sin.
Slightly longer:
If you read Genesis, you will see how many bad things (that we take for granted), that came into the world because of sin. If I remember right, even weeds were a result of it (!). In addition comes of course all things that are a direct result of the specific actions of humans. I too wonder how it can be like this, but I think the answer is: If God kept stopping us every time we are to do something evil we would be salves, or worse, we would have no control of our lives at all, and that is not what God wants, He wants us to choose to be with him and follow his will. If we were all able to do this all the time, there would not be those bad things.

It is our free will that gets us into trouble...
Remember that some people are in the control of the god of this world.

that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get?

the world goes by the five senses(carnal minded) things it can see,touch,feel,taste,smell.To worship our GOD,you have to be in the spirit(spirit minded).FAITH,is the thing hoped for....evidenced by things unseen. { what you can't see,but believing that what our GOD says,he able to do it.}read the bible from beginning to end.old testament and then new testament.some say that the old testament is the new testamant concealed....and the new testament is the old testament revealed.

I will pray for you. A reason that the world is like this is because of sin. God also allows this because it can be used for good. Just like the reason God allows evil. If God didn't want this he would have long ago removed evil just like when Jesus returns to Earth that evil might disappear. I don't mean it in a bad way ,but I wouldn't worry to much about it just pray over it to God. He will take care of it. Jesus knows that the evil can be used to glorify God. Just continue to pray over it.
St. John 14:1-4,27
"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

I pray that you come to realize that God is Almighty. Our job is to believe in Him and that He sent His Son to Save us. Our job is not to try and understand it all. Something we will understand right away, somethings God will open up are understanding to as we are ready to receive them, something we will never understand until we are in heaven. We have to be okay with that and rest in the Lord Almighty. Faith is to believe all that God is doing. Faith is not to understand all God is doing before you believe and trust his Judgements.
