Lately I've been getting night terrors. Its always the same dream and I always wake up hallucinating the things from my dream. I'm too scared to sleep tonight. For some reason the only thing that will occasionally help is sleeping with the lights on. But it makes me look childish. I don't know what to do. I'm scared to sleep but know I cant deprive myself of sleep. This sucks. I don't understand it.

Psalm 23

A psalm of David.

^ yeah that's a great prayer to say before laying down to sleep...and it's not too hard to memorize the whole thing either (my mom taught it to me when I was little).

There are times when the enemy attacks me in my sleep, when my guard is down (not with terror but with other issues). Just remember that the Holy Spirit never sleeps. Ask God to give you peace before you sleep every night.

Here's another one that can be used as a mini prayer (but instead of saying "you" say "I/my"):

Proverbs 3:24
When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.

The word of God is the Spirit of God. The more the word's are on the inside the more of his Spirit is on the inside. So repeat these verses every night until you've overcome.

Santan will use your sleep if you let him. I have had these night frights many times over the years. I now realize that I simply let my guard down by being to lazy keeping my shield up. If you anoint your room with oil and pray the room be blessed in the name of Jesus, it will be a difference between night and day. Also, pray for the blood of Christ apon you as a shield to evil before you go to sleep. This works all too well...

You can use some ordinary cooking oil, olive oil, mineral oil, or what have you, dip your finger into it, and make a cross with it on your walls, while at the same time praying your room be blessed in the name of Jesus Christ.

Don't get sloppy in protecting yourself. Strive for peace at bedtime, as it is so very important to get peaceful rest. The blood of Christ is a great barrier to evil. Also, if you feel the need, don't be afraid to shout out loud in the night "Satan, be gone in the name of Jesus Christ!"

God bless you.

The Lord is my shepherd also came to mind.

God wants us to enter His rest and He wants us to seek him in all things. Night Terrors stem from a hidden fear, a fear that cripples not only your ability to sleep normally but also cripples your spiritual life. You need to ask God to reveal the origin of this fear. It could be a guilt, a deep grounded fear of rejection, or a fear based on things happening when no-one else sees, things you dare not talk about, Anger, Jealousy - all these things embed themselves in our lives if we allow them. You should spend time in prayer and Seek God to free you.

Chances are that you already know the origin of this fear, and if you do - its best to deal with that right away - do not let it fester any longer. I'm talking from experience here - you'll be amazed how you are freed from acknowledging things and Trusting God to be your Comforter.

Prayers to you for good, quiet sleep. God knows you need rest to work His plan as He intends for you to do, and I prayed He keeps you in the health required to complete His goals for you. If you need the light on, go ahead. My mother-in-law sleeps with the TV on, a sleep timer set to shut it off 2 hours into her sleep. Maybe that's an option.

Again, prayers for sweet dreams and sound sleep.

In Christ's love,

It sounds like you are under a demonic attack. Try sleeping with praise music playing. You can turn the volume down real low so it doesn't bother you. Keep a bible by your bed and open it to Rev 20:7-10. Sleeping with alight on will also help as they hate light. Remove anything God would not be happy with in your room and even the whole house.

Command the hallucinations to leave in Jesus name and if they do not, ask Jesus to pass His sword thru them.

Pray that Jesus will send angels to fight against any demon that messes with your dreams or sleep. Forbid any demonic activity in your room, in Jesus name.

I would also recommend you buy a book called "Bondage Breaker" by Neil T Anderson. In the back are simple exercises, Please do them.

Doing these things will help. I hope things get better soon.

I've had this problem before, both due to medication side effects, and due to spiritual problems...it's not necessarily demons, but it well could be.
I like that particular psalm for this application. The line, "You prepare a table before me, in the presence of my enemy"
God is so faithful, he doesn't just want us to beat the enemy, he wants us to be so trusting in His grace and protection that we don't need to beat the enemy, we are freed from his power against us by the blood of Christ. Sometimes we forget that though and the enemy will come in and scare you if he can get away with it.

Danschance has some good ideas about forbidding demons in your room in Jesus name, sleeping with a Bible. I haven't read the book but it sounds good....there's an important thing to note when dealing with demons....it is prayer in faith and obedience that sends them packing. Even a non-believer can summon some confidence and tell a demon firmly that it's not welcome and it will oft times leave, I have seen this happen. It is your faith that it can't hurt you, that protects you.

This is big-- do not do any of the following as they are anamistic/thelemic practices that are at best superstition and sometimes border on witchcraft.
Do not anoint your room with oil. If a priest wants to do that, fine, they are trained in ritual magik, you're not.
Do not burn incense in an attempt to deter demonic activity. Our prayers are the incense.
Do not sleep with a miraculous medal, or other blessed object, or good luck charm. If you need something tangible, the Bible is good to sleep with, you can leave it open if it helps your faith, but remember, it is faith that does it.

They can only hurt you if you let them. If your prayers aren't doing it, it might be that at this point your fear is inhibiting your faith, in which case you should repent, and you should ask someone to pray for you and over you and your room. Talk to your parents or pastor, and get a check-up with your doctor as medical things can cause similar problems.

Don't fear. It might be scary, but it can't hurt you. Perfect love casts out fear, which takes the weapon from the enemy.
There's an account (I don't know how true it is, but it helped me) of Martin Luther waking up kinda startled, and seeing the enemy next to him in bed he said, "oh, it's just satan" and rolled over and went back to sleep. Even if it's made up, that confidence works, I've tried it. I've had some spiritual warfare in my day, and nightmares, pm me anytime if you wanna chat.

Also think of this, people are reading this and already praying for you, so you may see some improvement already! =)

And if you sleep with the Bible open, you have a non-childish excuse to leave your light on ;-)

You might even read something in those last few minutes that boosts your confidence in God and enhances your relationship with him....its like spiritual snuggling to read scripture in bed. Like being a little kid again and sleeping with your mom LOL

Read Psalms 91 KJV.Read it again and again to go to sleep.Where demons come in Angels of God must come in.Remove unwanted things from your life that makes devil come to haunt you.Try giving up unhealthy habits(spiritually bad) if any. That is an invitation for him to enter your life.Kneel down and Pray at the time you wake up from sleep,in between due to some startling feeling. It's early morning time that spirits attack more. The greatest trouble you can face in night sleep is getting troubled. We loose our sanity and that disturbs our soul the next day.If it continues like that we loose peace.
Pray often and make it a practice.Do not yield to any kind of laziness to Pray. That is a demonic influence to trouble you more later. If you are not good in doing any of this as Prayer, count praises you give to the Lord.Make it a promise to say at least 1000(In mind or utter). You will sleep. If still you cannot, you need to start fasting and praying to Lord God Jesus.Troubles will stop and you must continue walking with the Lord God.
Get saved to Jesus if you are not.Privileges are more when you come to Christ.Read Holy Bible.(just in case, if you are not a Christian)
God Bless:)

Worship music will help. I listen to anointed music when I can't sleep. Works every time.
Go to youtube and listen to Captured by Kimberly Rivera. Soooo anointed. You will see other anointed music of hers. She sings mostly soaking music. Very anointed. Another one is My Prayer by Kimberly. It brings so much peace into your room and you can feel this peace and touch of God. Prasie and Worship is good for clearing the air if you know what I mean.
