Gary, I'm so sorry to hear this, that you're dealing with this in addition to everything else...:(

I lift you and your mom to the Maker and Healer of all. I ask that your mom would be kept by the power of God in this, and that you wouldn't worry, and that all will have peace. I pray your mom knows the Savior. I thank the Lord for his mercies, and for you being a faithful son. :)

love in Jesus,
ellie

'Thank You So Much' for all of your compassionate concern/prayers/etc...

Her condition remains "not good" -- as she is not eating or drinking much.

Her daily intake is virtually 'nothing'.

psychomom: I sincerely believe that my mother knows the Lord.

Gary, I'm so happy to know that she has been redeemed and you can look forward to the time you see her when she is no longer ill. :)
Meanwhile, I ask the Lord to heal any pain she is suffering (in both body and mind), and that she be cared for as is fitting for the daughter of the King.
And...welcome home, brother!

Update -- "she is getting weaker"

She has dementia/alzheimers, and is "going down fast"...

:( :( :(
When I wrote this in the original post, it was my honest impression (based on my understanding of what I was told) that she would not last more than a week or so...

It has now been over a month...

"I just wanted to say that I did not mean to portray anything that was not true."

I started the thread largely because the "downturn" seemed so sudden and "full-blown" --- it was not that long before that I sat at their dinner table and ate lunch with them. In general day-to-day terms, she was O.K. then...

"Next thing I know, I am being told that she is 'going down fast'..."

'Thank You So Very Much' to all who have prayed - and continue to pray - for her well-being, comfort, etc...

It's OK, that is how this disease attacks.
She might even have a week where she seems normal, and then goes quickly.
You have prayer support here.
Just keep us posted :)

Gary, my husband flew from NY to TN quite suddenly because he was told by Hospice that if he wanted to see his mom, he'd better get there. He spent a week (not to sound morbid) waiting for her to die, and then finally came home (had to get back to work). She lived a month and a half after that, but he was able to minister the gospel to her while she still could understand it! It upset her husband (not Mark's father) that he spoke of sin to her. But step-dad isn't saved, and the Lord is a stumbling block to Him (though Mark was sad to upset him at such a time). :( Praise God, Mark's mom seemed to grasp it, and even asked Mark more about it in subsequent phone calls. I believe she is in paradise with Him. ♥

The Lord knows the number of our days, and we do not...so please do not give one moment's thought to worry about us!
I keep your mom lifted to our Sovereign, and y-o-u, too--are things well with you?
