I'm struggling with unwanted thoughts, thoughts from the flesh, doubt. And I despise them, I don't even provoke them, they just happen! I can barely go to sleep at night, they worry me so much. It's making me have insane anxiety, I went to sleep at 1:00 a.m. last night only to wake up at 5:00 a.m. It's like they cloud my mind 24/7 everyday, I can't even distract myself with guitar or anything! And the thoughts take the joy out of everything. And I am currently in a wheelchair after a surgery. There's not much I can do to get over them. I try and read the Bible, but it makes me feel so guilty for my thoughts. I know God knows that humans sadly think through the flesh at times, it's our nature. I've been trying to change that, but it's hard. My church isn't wheelchair accessible, and I can't go be filled. I just don't know what to do.

1) Do you know/ any good prayers for ridding away thoughts of the flesh? They've been torturing me.
2) Have you struggled with anxiety over things like this? Any personal tips?

God Bless, thank you for reading

Hey, I'm praying for you. I know for me, and maybe it's not the same for you, I found that I couldn't always control my thoughts and feelings and sometimes it isn't a manner of trying to control them. Ok, I'm going to go there, it's just like the movie Frozen. When she tries to suppress her fears and anxieties they grow stronger and take over. She had to (sigh, forgive me for the so greatly overused pun) Let it Go. I only bring up the metaphor because it helped me a lot the past year. Just for me Letting it Go was recognizing that God was the only one who could deal with the thoughts. I couldn't. And me clutching to them trying to change them wasn't making an ideal situation to let God work through them. I don't know if that helps? Again, you may be different from me I don't want to sound like I'm blaming you.

Lord, I thank thee a thousand times for the roses; help me thank thee for the thorns as well, for it is because of thorns that we can truly appreciate just how beautiful the roses really are.

This prayer may not help, but I know it's helped me at least to think on it. many times when tragedy hits we don't feel like thanking God or praising him or giving him credit for the blessings he provides that we simply refuse to see. Life itself is a blessing, every day, every breath of air giving us yet one more chance, a golden opportunity to draw closer to him and do his will.

I've fallen into this hole myself though; to say otherwise would be a lye. My head has ached with the sleepless nights of profound sadness and despair. I often ask how it is possible that God has anything planned for me at all, something that could take the many years that I spent running away from his calling and turn them into something worth even thinking about. Could it be that I'm destined to die now that I've accepted Christ? Perhaps my life lasted this long just to give me that possibility?

Then again, perhaps I'm meant to touch one person who will later touch hundreds, who will in turn touch millions, or perhaps I am that person who is meant to touch hundreds or thousands or even millions. Such is the life God has given us, a list of fragmented bits and pieces to look at, while God simply asks us to sit back and relax, to trust in him, to carry on with what we know to be right under his careful instruction. We are not meant to know what the future holds, but we can rest assured in that we know who holds the future.

I'm seeing so many prayers of this nature these days. It is a sure sign of the spiritual warfare ramp-up towards the end. And that's what this is, pure and simple, demonic entities trying to speak to your mind and sour your spirit. Make no mistake, these are attacks and you have to counter them as such. It's said there are no atheists in foxholes, well there's no wimps in there either. They are expending considerable effort to plague your mind and it will take equal effort on your part to stop them.

1Cor 12:3 Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says "Jesus is accursed!" and no one can say "Jesus is Lord" except in the Holy Spirit.

There is power in the spoken word. When these things attack your mind, you must have 'Jesus is Lord' on your lips. It takes your mind to move your lips and if nothing else it takes that part of your mind back from them. But more so, it's like acid in their ears. They can't stand it. And God's power is in those words. You have no standing to face these things. It may be your lips moving but it's God's power that's moving thru them. You're God's deputy here, you face these things, bind and silence them by the authority in Jesus' Name, and you tell them if they have a problem with it to take it up with the Man upstairs.

I've always had this insane connection to the spiritual realm, and I know what these attacks can be like. I spent hours rocking in my seat chanting Jesus is Lord, Pleading the Blood of Jesus to cleanse me, and the Holy Spirit to fill me and wash away this enemy, and angels to occupy the enemy and bear me up. It might even take fasting to break these things down. And yes, I say these things, you're going to find there are more than one of them. It's like peeling the grips of a dozen children off of the monkey bars. You hafta keep at it until they've all let loose, else the ones you leave hanging on will invite their buddies back.

And don't discount proper medication. The evolution of man under satan's rule has left this flesh with physical imprints. God has lead many gifted men towards finding physical aids to counter those. Yes this is a spiritual attack on your mind, but it's your flesh they yank on like a leash. There's nothing wrong with cutting them off there as well.

This is war. I know you didn't choose it but the time has come that the enemy is bringing the battle to you - to us. We have to learn how to wield our Sword. 'Cause honestly, we ain't seen nothin' yet.

Thank you Ricky! Do you have any ideas for prayers so that the Spirit can fill me more? These thoughts have made me realize I've been so carnal minded my whole life. But I'm glad I caught this while in my teen years, I really want it to fill me and stay.

pfg, my dear one-

God in Christ has totally and completely forgiven you, accepted you, and placed His love upon you.
Forever, without reproach. Never to be taken from you.
The love of God has reconciled you in Christ to Himself. You are His. You are free.

That's Good News! The Gospel!
I have to preach it to myself every day. (because I forget it every day.
 )
When unwelcome thoughts creep in, I pray you will also remind yourself of those great Truths.

praying you will make a full recovery from surgery.
God loves you, little one. (and we are each of us God's little ones. ♥)

I have found that simply giving the thoughts to God in Jesus's name with praise is very effective. :)
You are in my prayers in Jesus's name for all healing in body and mind.

Remember, Jesus said, "in the world you have tribulation, but take courage, I have overcome the world!" :)

God bless

I do, but I am just rushing thru here right now and I don't want to rush an answer for you. Tonight when I get on this will be my first priority! (Before I go annoy people in the Bible Discussion forum :) )

Well that was a long day. My mother in law is out of state on a vacation and we're refinishing the floors in her house for her birthday. We moved everything back in today.

The first thing in prayer is to go before God, with praise and thanksgiving and acknowledging the sacrifice of His Son as the only way we have the privilege to do so. God created us to love and be loved, both ways, so enter His presence (and conversely welcome His presence around you) with love and appreciation and acknowledgment. Invite the Holy Spirit to surround you, to wash thru not just you but your environment, to cleanse it of the enemy that would try to interfere. Invite angels to occupy the enemy, and to bear you up in prayer. You need to form, pardon the expression, something like a warp bubble around you, both spiritually and physically, where you're in God's presence and God's presence surrounds you.

Confession is next. You have to understand the power of sin. Forgiveness for salvation is a once-for-lifetime event, and the power of sin has no effect on it. God will keep you for as long as you will stay, and regard you as pure no matter how dirty you get.But the power of sin in the here and now is that if you submit to a spiritual authority, you're submitted to a spiritual authority... until you rebuke it. When you submit to either a demon and/or the flesh yanking on your leash, you empower it over you. Confession is the way you rebuke that. Bring it before God, confess what you got dirty in, and pray the Blood of Christ be poured out upon and within you for the cleansing it brings in both spirit and body. And pray the Holy Spirit be poured out upon you as well, filling your spirit to be stronger against the flesh. And ask that angels be set around you, to bear you up and to occupy the enemy. And wield your sword – the word of God – on your lips.

Then tell Him why you are there. Lay the situation out (as you know it) before Him, knowing that He already knows more about it, and has a plan. He does already know about it, but there's a partnership clause in the contract that usually, but not always, has to come into play. So He knows about it, we come to Him and say can we do something about it, and in honor of your faith He will.

With that partnership established, face the demons themselves and tell them what for. You have the authority to command their silence; you have the authority to command them bound. Well, not you, but Christ has the authority, much like the Sheriff, but it is we who enforce it as His deputies. So you bind them and book 'em, and tell them if they have any issues with it to take it up with the Judge.

Casting them out is a different issue. Most will flee if you show them the Door, but some will take fasting with those prayers to break the hold of. This is where praying in a group is helpful, God says where two or more agree it will be done, and that includes tossing out the tough guys. Hey, they fight in groups so why shouldn't we?

Now, if you are praying for someone else, repeat all those steps above over them. Names in the spiritual denote place and position, you can speak the name of Jesus over the name of the person you are praying for as a covering over them.

Then lay it all before God in faith, tell Him here it is it's Yours, thank Him and praise Him for the privilege of being able to lay it before Him, and for He will do with it. Acknowledge again the sacrifice if Christ as the Authority that enables you to do all these things, invite Jesus to be Lord over these things, and say amen.
