A couple at church is having a very difficult time. About a year and a half ago they were told Ross only had a year left to live because he has Marfan syndrome. They claimed to be able to do nothing to fix his heart. So the couple went for an outside opinion. The second dr seemed very optimistic, "oh this is no problem. We could fix it easily." So the couple brought the information back to their first hospital/insurance who refused to either perform the surgery themselves or pay for it to be done. After a yr the original hospital finally agreed to do the surgery. Ross went in last week and they said it was likely he wouldn't even make it through 1 of 4 needed surgeries. He's still around and slowly improving. There was a complication with the first surgery so there will be 4 more from here.
Ross's wife, Dawne, has horrible health issues. She almost died recently when she was rushed to the ER and they found 4 blod clots traveling to her heart. She has chronic pain and sleeps on average fewer than 10 hrs per week (yes that was per week)!
