Hey guys.

I've been struggling with porn for a while now, and it's come down to the final straw. I'm numb to the sin but I continue to pray for help and forgiveness. I confess when I have sinned, I understand the real beauty of sex and love, and I know that I'm going to wait until I'm married. However, porn, whether soft core stuff like celebrities modeling or hardcore stuff, is just really hard to shake. It's like I know exactly what I'm doing but my heart is hard to it. It's liike an addiction. However, I'm still here and I'm not backing down. I really need prayer. I really really really neeeeeed prayer. Thanks guys,

Matt

I also struggle with this! Your not alone brother, many are held by the bondage of sexual impurity, self gratification and pornography. I signed up for this website and so far I really like it! I reccomend that you try it out. It's a 60 day course and you are assigned a personal mentor who has gone through similar things. Freedom from habitual sin: Overeating, Pornography, Smoking, Drinking try it out. :)

Lord, I thankyou for your mercy and for your forgiveness. I pray that you will give Matt strength and guidance. To lead him into your marvelous light, and learn to drink from your living water, so he may be satisfied all the time by you. Help him leave his habitual sin upon the cross that so many people struggle with. I claim victory in your name Jesus. Your are all powerful and will deliver him from this bondage. I ask in Jesus marvelous name. We give you ALL of the Glory and ALL of the praise, for only you deserve it, and you alone are God. In the name of Jesus. Amen

God Bless Brother!

I have K9, you just have to fiddle with the settings. You can even set it to restrict access at certain times of day. Get someone else to set up the password for you though after you've fiddled with it :)

well guys here's the deal now:

first and foremost i appreciate your prayers and advice. i've been using k9 and it is good stuff.
secondly, i'm still having issues. i'm gonna check out that Freedom from habitual sin: Overeating, Pornography, Smoking, Drinking thing and see how it goes.
Basically the way it works is i'm completely conscious of the sin. it's totally intentional. i can be praying to God and know that i intend to look at porn a minute later. it seems i've just got to make the decision not to. it's an on the spot kind of thing. fight or flight, if you will.
please keep praying for me. God is mighty. He and i will get thru this.

sexuality is a driving force of nature..

we were created sexual beings and this is how life is created...for not just our species..but many..

humans could learn many valuable lessons on sexual morality by watching the natural wayz of animals...

(not drugg induced or manipulated by humans in any way...I might add)

I think sex is a gift from god..to be treasured for its extreme "bonding" quality..especially in creating children...

but it is to be respected..and considered sacred..because it does create life..

and that is truly a beautiful thing...

Lust is one of the 7 cardinal sins

It can consume you to the point of pure physical pleasure..that you lose sight..

of the Sacred...

and it becomes twisted and distorted...

a great man once said..it is NOT A SIN to have an" impure thought"...but an exercise of VIRTUE to dispell it

it is not a sin for a man, or woman to see others.... as beautiful ..but..to lust after them..in the physical...

to disrespect their.."sacredness' for the lust of your own mind and heart...
could be considered very disrespectful..by OUR FATHER in heaven

I prayed for you. I prayed that you will have the strength to stay away from impure things. I prayed that you will have a desire to seek after that which is clean and pure. You have a righteous desire in wanting to quit. That's a start. Porn is addictive. Like any other addiction, you may not be able to break the addiction alone. Seek help from your church leaders.
Best Wishes

I recommend you watch this video and see just how big God is, how your sins are paid for and how much you are loved. If God's immense love can't turn you from sin then how shall your efforts at discipline succeed?

Crazy Love Videos

But I am convinced that efforts at discipline are man-centered, based upon worldly sorrow over the pain that sin causes us, rather than the pain it causes God. If we can instead get a grasp on how good God is and how much He loves us, we'd be crying our eyes out over how we've treated Him, and we'd stop sinning immediately.

What is our end goal in life? Is our end goal to be rid of the sins we struggle with, or is our goal to love God with all of our heart, soul, strength and mind? Where do we pour our energy then? Do we struggle and strive to stop sinning or do we struggle and strive to love God as we ought?

For so many years I struggled against porn, but God has shown me of late that my focus is in the wrong place, my sorrow is worldly and that He will not help me overcome my sin by my efforts at discipline. He will - however - help me to place my affections upon Him alone.

Remember that satan is ruling this world right now and he's the reason things have gotten so out of control, he loves it. But Jesus has overcome all of this. As we wait for Christ's return, tell the devil to go to hell, where he belongs.

Try downloading a porn blocker; here's a free one.
K9 Web Protection (32-bit) - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

Ya I know you mean well but I think that telling the devil to go to hell is dangerous. He is appointed a time to be cast into the lake of fire, but God has allowed him to be on earth to try the saints. Anytime we come against the devil we need to rebuke him in Jesus name, or resist him, not by a railing accusation.

Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. Jude 1:9

If Michael the archangel didnt even make a railing accusation, and he is given much more power than we are; than how much more should we avoid it.

I absolutely needed to hear those words of wisdom today...

I sometimes rant at the devil..and St Michael didn't even do so..but gently rebuked him in the name of the Holy trinity..Jesus being the vessel..that carries our grace..

thankyou for the wise words...

I truly need to ponder them..and live them..

Hi, im not an expert. obviously the problem is addictive of itself, but its sometimes hard to know where the actual problem lies. take for instance an alcoholic who drinks to escape his emotions - the drinking is the most visible and obvious problem, but it is not the real problem, its a symptom of emotions that need addressing. people are complex, and there are many ways to healing. if you have a headache and you pray for God to take it away and it doesnt go, its perfectly ok to go and take an asprin. a psychologist can give you insights you and your church leaders would never think of. maybe there is an underlying problem, or maybe there is not. either way, you have nothing to lose by digging deeper.

there are christian psychologists around (some counsellors do not have much training, which is why i recommend a psychologist over a counsellor), if you are worried about a secular perspective. not all problems are spiritual, so its important to learn the difference.

Matt, I was addicted to porn for over 30 years, the church told me its all right, God understands, and NO sin will exclude me from the kingdom, as I went from many self help groups, Promise keepers, and was told I was born a sinner, and will never stop these vile sins of the flesh, I believed them, and soon learned what I needed to do, as unless you repent, and I mean stop the sins of the flesh, along with any others that will lead to death, then you will constantly struggle as you are doing with your eternal desteny in the balance!

The dangers of Porn!]

1Co 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor abusers, nor homosexuals,
1Co 6:10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God!

Today we are seeing a vast array of professing Christians and ministries who treat sin that will lead to death as a calamity and not a crime against God.Gal 6:7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, that he also will reap.
Gal 6:8 For he sowing to his flesh will reap corruption from the flesh. But he sowing to the Spirit will reap life everlasting from the Spirit.
I can confess from being in bondage to this sin for over 30 years, what I needed to do to put it to death. Most in the Christian circles will tell you it’s a disease, it’s in your nature, or you were born a sinner and will not be able to put it to death once and for all. The pastors would tell me its ok, we all fall short, try not to do it again, and all your sins are forgiven, past, present, and future!
This gave me some comfort, as I joined other men, married and single, who were in the same boat I was in, falling continuously to porn and lust, but again I was good with God, because at least I confessed I do it, and am seeking help from those who know more than me!]
But I knew something was amiss in the church system, and could not figure out what these verses meant:
The soul who sins shall die! Eze 18-20
Those who sin are of the devil 1 John 3-8
The unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God! 1 Corin 6-10-11
Flee all sexual immorality Rev 21-8
He who does what is right is righteous 1 John 3-7
Stop loving this evil world and its lustful attractions 1 John 2-15-16
To be carnally minded is death Romans 8-6
Be perfect Matt 5-48
And many more scriptures that clearly contradict what is being taught in the liberal churches today, such as Promise Keepers, and those who write the many books to help one who struggles with porn to do it less!
Here in lies the problem, keeping literally millions of men in bondage to this vile sin and their flesh. No one is preaching true biblical repentance from the get go! The whole gospel is backwards, and upside down, where they tell you to just accept, believe, and confess your sins to Jesus, receive Him into your heart, feel sorry for your sins, BUT you will always be a poor sinner saved by grace! God will clean you up later, you will remain defiled, worldly, and double minded, but try not to sin if you can!
Where does it say this in the scriptures? Where are the few who are brave enough to call the sick to repent or perish, as Jesus and John the Baptist did. Luke 13-3.unless you repent, you will all likewise perish!
The sin of porn watching will kill you spiritually, and If you refuse to repent, and seek the mercy of God, 2 Corinthians 7-10-11, and die with Christ, ,Gal 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ, and I live; yet no longer I, but Christ lives in me. And that life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith toward the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself on my behalf. Then you will remain in bondage to this vile sin, it must be cut off at the roots! Put to death once and for all in repentance, then you must guard your heart each and every day, count the cost, resist to bloodshed if you have to striving against sins of the flesh, do your part in repentance and all mighty God will do His! James 4:8 Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, sinners; and purify your hearts, double-minded ones.
Draw near to God, He will give you all the power and strength to remain pure and holy before Him, you cannot serve two masters, you cannot be double minded, full of darkness and guile and lust and possibly think you will inherit eternal life!
Those who forsake their sins will be given mercy, and not grace to continue in sin! Remember the grace of God teaches us something!
Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, Tit 2:12 teaching us that having denied ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live discreetly, righteously and godly, in this present world

Tit 2:13 looking for the blessed hope, and the appearance of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
Tit 2:14 who gave Himself for us that He might redeem us from all iniquity and purify to Himself a special people, zealous of good works.
You now have a choice to make! Seek first His kingdom and righteousness, or your own and suffer the grave consequences of your choices! Either you kill the sin in repentance, or it will kill you!(spiritually)
Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are clearly revealed, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lustfulness,
Gal 5:20 idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, fightings, jealousies, angers, rivalries, divisions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 envyings, murders, drunkennesses, revelings, and things like these; of which I tell you before, as I also said before, that they who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.]
[Please repent of this sin, and all others that will kill your soul!
[Tommy 2-25-12]
Biblical Repentance:
You believe from your heart. You obey to receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 5:32) He comes into a clean vessel. A heart made pure by faith (obedience) Acts 15:9) you obey and keep obeying, daily, to keep your heart pure and undefiled from the world! (1 Peter 1:22) That's how it works! Genuine repentance involves humility, brokenness and is a humiliating experience. When the true light of God's word floods into your soul, you see yourself as you are, in rebellion to God! This is what godly sorrow is all about. Deep regret for your sin's, a season of sorrow, leading to salvation! (2 Corinthians 7:10) not getting saved in your disobedience and sin's, but out of them, through true repentance first where the flesh is crucified with Christ, and put to death! (Galatians 2:20) cleansed to receive the Holy Spirit!

Unless you crucify your flesh with Christ, once and for all, you will not have victory over this sin and others, I know these message seem harsh, and are not popular, but either you believe the word of God in its entirity or believe the lie that teaches you were born a sinner, and Jesus is the covering for you as you wallow in your addictions and disobedience, either the sin stops in repentance, such as porn watching, or the heart hardens, the old man stays alive and well, and victort may never come!

What are you thinking about?

Php 4:8 Finally, my brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are right, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think on these things.
When one is truly converted, and has gone through the baptism of repentance, followed by a working faith in love, the critical aspect of this conversion will be manifested in what we think about. The mind is a powerful weapon to either do good or evil, as we learn from scripture that says, he who does what is evil (sins) is of the devil, from 1 John 3:8, and I believe the mind is the portal for Satan to cause havoc with those who are still divided in their hearts, loving the world on one hand, then loving God on the other.
We are commanded to love the Lord our God, with all our heart, mind, and strength, and also to capture all out though to Jesus Christ, 2Co 10:5 pulling down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought into the obedience of Christ.
What a powerful scripture, calling us to guard our heart and mind in all areas of our life.
Sin begins in the mind or as a thought, Jas 1:13 Let no one being tempted say, I am tempted from God. For God is not tempted by evils, and He tempts no one.
Jas 1:14 But each one is tempted by his lusts, being drawn away and seduced by them.
Jas 1:15 Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin. And sin, when it is fully formed, brings forth death.
This clearly proves we are responsible before God for what we think about, and how these vile thoughts can lead to sin and death, there is no such thing as original sin, or the devil made me do it, no, sin begins in the mind, or in our thoughts, caused by what we PUT into it!
Are you filling your mind daily with the word of God? Seeking and digging deep for the truth as commanded by Jesus and the apostles? Are you challenging all the false teachings going on in the apostate churches today, or are you filling your mind and thoughts with all the vile propaganda on TV, Hollywood movies, all the witchcraft and magic books very popular in the church today?
I believe a truly converted person, will have a fire and passion for truth, seeking the wisdom of God with all his heart and soul, and will put away the foolish things, which cause distractions and divided hearts, against the pure teachings of Jesus Christ.
We cannot afford to let our guards down when it comes to what we put into our minds on a daily basis, we must not give the evil one a foothold, by opening the door just a little bit, no we must flee from all vileness, corruption, immorality, and the lies being propagated as truth in the church system today.
WE must put on the mind of Christ, follow the spirit of truth if we have been truly converted, then guard our heart and mind against the wiles of the devil, by abstaining from all appearances of evil, 1Th 5:21 Prove all things, hold fast to the good.
1Th 5:22 Abstain from every appearance of evil.
What we think about each day really matters, as the evil one wants us to get distracted, take our eyes and thoughts off of Christ, by putting thoughts into our minds that take us away from being a pure and holy bride, cleansed and purged of all vile thoughts, caused by what we put into it, through entertainments, conversations, music we focus on. Etc……
I know we are surrounded by the world, and all its lies, foul language, disrespect for Jesus, and God, worldly music, and foul jokes and conversations, there is no way around it, unless you are a monk, and lock yourself in a monastery forever. So being grounded in the truth, putting on the full armor of God, each and every day, hiding the word of God in your heart, praying, and standing aloof of the church system and all its lies and confusion, is a big step in keeping our thoughts focused on Christ, and walking an obedient life of faith, and heart purity.

I suggest you(original post) read Charles Spurgeon's book "All of Grace". Grace is such a foreign concept to humanity it takes time to mature in it. if successfully living a christian life can be achieved by trying really hard, no-one needs a saviour. the Saviour is in the business of saving because we cannot do it ourselves.
there's a verse in Romans which says "where sin abounds, grace abounds MUCH MORE!".

Everyone has been told that porn, masturbation, online affairs, phone sex and other sexual activities are a sin. It is referrenced in the Bible. But when you are caught up in it's web, it is easier said than done. I have been doing some research to try and find out, how to battle those urges when they arise. I know how to read the bible daily, pray, etc. but God made us sexual beings as well as spiritual ones and with that comes feelings. So what do we do when those feelings/urges arise? I have come across a website that actually will give you step-by-step help for some of these times. Now they are not easy by any means but to actually have a formula for me to follow and note cards to sit on my desk, so I can grab at a moments notice, is much appreciated. That and it is all FREE. They have other sections that will help with how to take control of thoughts or the memories that arise after you are done with whatever sexual sin, you have gotten yourself in to. This is for both men and women. Women also have the emtional content to the sexual piece as well. It is Bible based but looks like it has info and links for those that are not believers, as well.

Fight the good fight! You are not alone!
