Hi,
Well, to make a long story short, I went to the doctor about two months ago about not getting a restful nights sleep for about a year and a half. My doctor said he wanted to do blood tests to test for diabetes, thyroid and some other things. The test results came back to a borderline Hypothyroidism and wanting to run another test sometime in January to see if the test results showed, it stayed the same, got worse, or went away. I am terrified. Now, I realize that there really isn't anything wrong with having a thyroid problem, but knowing that something could be wrong is a little scary. I do know that God does not give us a spirit of fear, but of a peace and a sound of mind. Please pray that the results come back in normal range.

Aw I'm sorry, Cmarieh! My mom, my aunt and my grandma suffer from hypothyroidism. But they control it well with medications. I'll pray for you to be fine and healthy. Trust in the Lord. Read the Word and pray to him. If it does come in the abnormal range, remember that there are still miracles! Don't worry about it, the Lord will take care of you. He loves you and wants the best for you. Blessings!

I know how you feel -- I was diagnosed as hypothyroid about 18 years ago. It somehow made me feel mortal for the first time in my life. And I HATED the idea that I have to take a tiny pill each and every morning for the rest of my life, BUT life is SO much better when your thyroid levels are correct. If you start taking meds, you will begin to feel more energetic, less achy, better focused and you'll get a good night's sleep within about two weeks.

So while I understand your fear and trepidation, it is a very good thing your doctor spotted this (it often goes undiagnosed for years!). I'll be praying for you, Sister.

I have it as well, and an ex of mine did too. Depending on the severity of it it's not a big deal. If this is your worst health problem be grateful. I was just a few years older than you when i was hospitalized for hypertension. And a few years after that i was diagnosed with renal trouble (kidney) and ended up on dialysis and having a transplant. I was young for all of this, as these problems tend to surface in older people. During this time i dealt with a number of related, and unrelated issues. I now take an average of roughly 10 medicines a day. About 25 pills a day. I've had more at various times. My thyroid problems are not very bad, and among the least of my worries with my health.
Just take one pill a day, small pill at that, and you'll be fine.

I have had hypothyroidism for 17 years, since the time I also got RA. I will take the tiny pill and hypothyroidism over RA any day.

My mom has had it for almost 50 years, and led a perfectly normal life. My daughter got it at age 15, and has never had any problems.

All things considered, there are no side effects from the drug, it makes you perfectly normal. Probably the best and easiest illness to have.

I hope that reassures you! Try and remember God is in control, no matter what happens, and it will ease your anxiety in all circumstances.

most doctors will probably never ever tell you the effects of almost all soy on your health. it is widely available on the internet, safely so.

some things prevent uptake of nutrition, particularly minerals, that the body needs. good to find out.
some things destroy most peoples thyroid; but no one tells them. good to find out.
(some things besides BROMINE in bread. very bad stuff).(in most storebought bread).

For what it's worth to you, I've seen several women in my family face thyroid complications, and they are all doing well many years after the initial prognosis. Whatever is going on with it and whatever the outcome is, I suspect you will be okay! Maintain hope, cmarieh.

Veteran of hypothyroidism since 2011. But since you are borderline, I'd suggest increasing your iodized salt consumption which is essential for thyroid health. The thing about being borderline is that you will have that blah feeling until you are able to be officially diagnosed. The borderline just means that that level is the average for the population...it does not mean it is the average for YOU. I'm speaking of someone who has been dealing with officially diagnosed thyroid problems. My mom and aunt both have undiagnosed thyroid issues though because like you they are both borderline. If you increase your iodized salt consumption, it should help a bit. :)
