Hi there,

There are quite a few of Arabic-speaking Christians on here and we usually come into the Lounge and lapse into Arabic (much to other's dismay) and I was wondering if you could please open up an arabic room so we could converse there without disturbing anyone? :)

Thank you so much! Do keep well and God bless! :)

Salam,
Maya

4. English, please.
Please speak mostly English in the chat rooms so that others can understand you. At least please do not dominate the voice/video chat (or text chat) with conversation in another language.

The mods don't have the time to learn every world language. And they cannot very well moderate languages they don't speak. Threads have been opened on this before and you can expect the same response.

So many unused rooms and lots of requests for new rooms. Shortage of mods, no one to conduct the night time formal Bible Study. I'm praying for you CC, that God lead and direct you in His will.

God's blessings to all of you

I am sure there are some exceptions to rule #4 when it comes to a room specifically for another language. The Spanish room and Filipino room are used quite frequently and rarely are there moderators in those rooms. I think an Arabic room is a wonderful idea. For multiple reasons; 1) Arabic speakers. 2) Arabic speakers who are not very fluent in English, but desire to chat on CC. 3) Anyone who wants to learn Arabic. 4) If anyone ever wants to witness to muslims it would be very helpful to learn some Arabic phrases, purely for cultural sensitivity.

Again, I think it's a great idea!

RoboOp, please consider this room suggestion :)! Thanks.

God bless you all.

My arabic isn't the best in the world but the only way to get going is by speaking it. I can barely read arabic but hey, its all about starting somewhere. :) If you have the calling to learn it, go ahead. :) I suggest sticking to a dialect vs learning Modern Standard Arabic (stuff in the news, papers, used in formal events, etc). :) The Lebanese dialect of arabic is really soft on the ears and is much easier to grasp vs the other dialects. :)

hope you get a room
Thanks sweetiepie. :)

When we gather (usually in the evening), all the rooms tend to be taken so yeah.. :)

As Romans8 suggested, I wouldn't mind moderating the Arabic room with him. Completely agree with everything Shwagga said. :)

i think we should have an arabic room because there are alot of countrys that speak arabic , it`s not just acountry or two
and i noticed that there are many members here at cc who belongs to arabic countrys so it will help us communicate easier
and maybe we will learn more about english from each other , so i agree with u guys ,i hope to see the room soon

well, then you first need an arabic- writing moderator, you DO realize that we cant have people writing in languages no one can moderate right?

my mother tounge is Norwegian, there are other Norwegians and sweeds in here, but we dont demand our own forum for it

I'm only replying here to say that this thread made me laugh out loud with some of the responses.

I'd better add 'arabic' to my 'list of langauges I'm required to master in order to offer my free time to moderate a free online chat community to cater for the masses'. I'll be sure to get right onto that...
