There are times when chat becomes a monologue. Is there any way to limit mic time in general? Especially in the Bible Study room?

I think its hard to limit mic time when you are learning about the Bible and about God's word. Sometimes you need to hearmore then a few minutes worth of teaching. What I sometimes find upsetting and confusing is when the conversation is about something that has NOTHING to do with God or religious issues, or those types of things. I guess I just dont need to know about mindless chatter (not that I mind that sometimes, just not in a Bible Chat)
But I also dont want to upset anyone, and if someone needs to get something out, or feels that God is leading them to preach, then maybe they need to preach and teach.

Hahaha! Willslo are you telling me I'm one of the talkers!? Haha! Because I am! I know this and frankly I would be fine with a general mic time limit.

Hopefully it would open the floor for those who don't talk as much and force those of us linguistically gifted to be more succinct. I can rise to that challenge.

I think limiting mic time is a great idea.
Personally I tune out when someone is talking incessantly without much content.(no offense to the goofy ppl in the lounge) As I am a rather shy person I would never be one to 'hog' the mic, but I have felt the odd time to comment during heated discussions, however, the mic was hard to get... and then what I planned to say wasn't really relevant anymore. Perhaps when ppl let go of the mic there should be a pause allowed, so other can succeed to get on the mic. Time limit 1.5 minutes max to talk...??!! Just use one of those little sand timers from a board game like Pictionary :D

Well I can understand some thinking one should be allowed more than three minutes on mic because they are 'teaching'. But keep in mind, this is a chat room, not a lecture room. I'd also suggest looking at rulle 13.

I also want to bring up about certain friends groups that hog the mic in the lounge and dont let others have a chance to talk. like i.e. 4 or 5 friends who dominate the lounge and 20 to 40 other chatters who get frustrated when they dont get a chance to talk on mic. thats what i noticed but thats my two cents, not that it matters but im just voicing a concern.

I need a smiley with an orange in his mouth to put in here.
I think someone got this guy Piney.. lol

I agree I think 30 to 60 secs is more then enough time to get your point across and let someone else have a turn.
