you may have recieved 25 negative rep points then.

Someone keeps giving me bad rep points over really stupid posts, like just when i post hi to a new member. Perhaps there is a better way of saying hi to someone????

it seems you need more than one rep point to gain or loose rep power, but I\m not sure

I too got one negative rep for a neutral post, so dunno what thats about

What colour are the little squares next to your reputations? if they're green they're positive, if they're red then no-one likes you, someone doesn't like me so don't feel too bad. :)

Maybe it's a code, you know they like you but are too shy to say they like you, so maybe we have secret admirers. ;)

Or it could be a glitch. :p

Ok.....first off the squares aren't there for who likes you or no....they are there for whether they liked your POST or not....Green are positive.....Red (I guess, I don't have any of these) are negative and the grey ones just mean they are neither good nor neg "rep" and neither gives nor takes away points. (Which I personally don't understand the reasoning behind even doing, but thats ok! hahhaa) The points on the contol panel are not the same as the ones we see alongside our nicks in the forums....as I understand it those are given by the mods. How many we see alongside our nicks in the forums (given by the mods) are what we have "power" to give or take away from others on their control panel. So I have 5 rep points to give or take from others depending on whether I liked or disliked their post. (if I personally disagreed with a post badly enough to dig into making a negative comment on someone's control panel, I'd probably just report the post to a mod!--but that's just me!) I do feel it is imoportant to point out that it may not be a case of not likeing YOU...but just a disagreement with your POST. I would have to say I'd pray so..this being a christian site and all...........

Ach don't worry about it Matthew. I got 1 bad Rep.. Im not gonna tell you what it said lol. But it never bothered me in the slightest and I don't wish to know who sent it either. Personally I have only given good reps, If I have a problem with what someone is posting I usually say so on the thread.. as you all probably know by now lol.

So to me it doesn't mean anything, except that someone giving bad rep without their name is cowardice. It is only something a coward would do in my humble opinion.

It is strange that people have no problem telling you their names when they give you good rep, yet are cowards when giving bad rep ? But I still think there should be anonymity. for it would probably cause ill will between people?

I think the solution would be, if soemone left a bad rep without their name, then the rep should be cancelled by the mods. :) that way we have no cowards scoring dirty trick points, instead of debating in the forums. Just my opinion :)

or maybe scrap the rep system altogether, to me it means nothing anyhow.

This is the crux of the issue for me, if the point of the rep system is to give credit to those we agree with then why is there a negative rep option in the first place? just seems to be a way people can tear eachother down and that surely isn't what should be going on, if a person wishes to disagree then disagree openly.

Having a bad rep doesn't bother me but the anonymity does, in cases of good rep it just makes it impossible to connect with people as I've given many positive reps and the people in question have no idea, but in the case of bad reps I don't like feeling like I've been attacked and have no way to answer it, I can't message back and elaborate my point or challenge them to elaborate their point and I can't even report them to the moderators to be dealt with by the sites ruling authoriy, as it stands people can get away with offences through the rep system that would see them banned if they did it on the open forum....and that does bother me.

For me, if I get a negative rep, as long as it's civil, I won't have a problem with it.

But when someone goes out of their way and writes something rude, that's hurtful and hateful, especially from supposed Christians.

Precisely, but when the latter happens we are powerless to do anything about it but if people knew their name sat alongside their comment it would probably stop happening.
