It's unsettling to see so many derailed threads and negative comments. Aren't we supposed to be fellowshiping and sharing In love? I see so much anti behavior.. I never see respect be enforced on any thread.
Point.. can't you protect against?
Rhetorical question obviously.
You've let bullying run rampant its astounding..

Welcome to cc.
The key is to not let it bother you. Just scroll past what you don't like and take what blesses you.
If the mods monitored and slapped every negative comment .....there would be no site.

It's really just easy to decide what's worth reading and reacting to.

Derailed threads are a part of all forums. It's just the natural flow of conversation. And while yes, it can be frustrating at times, if you step back and look at how communication goes between people, that is exactly how it happens. Rarely do two people stay on one subject for long, let alone a group of people.
Also this site has been around for over 15 years. My understanding is they have tried different levels of control over what goes on in the forums, more strict and less strict. This is the balance they have struck. Now, it's easy for me, or most people, to criticize that decision, but it's also true most of us have not ran or moderated larger chat sites and forums.
For example, i once visited another Christian chat site and jokingly used the term 'good lawd'. A member complained to me about it being blasphemy. When i defended myself a moderator stepped in and said that if i used it again i would be banned. I left a few minutes later and never went back. In comparison to other sites that have little or no moderation and have more trolls than members.
Thrown in that all mods/admins are unpaid volunteers that use their personal time on the site to also enforce things going on, it doesn't leave a lot of room for much stricter enforcement. As well as the majority of reports against other members go ignored because the reasons for the reports are almost always personal and have nothing to do with the posted rules. Perhaps if people weren't so eager to report over personal issues it would leave more time for mods to deal with more genuine issues.
While i think things should be tightened up in that area as well, i also know i don't have the experience of running a site like this, so i don't know all the difficulties involved, so i limit my complaints.

And really, doesn't it speak more to individuals and the church as a whole, than this site, that such behavior is so rampant? What sticks out to me more is that so many people act the way they do and then hide under the idea that it's in God's name, and feel justified. The problem isn't the site, it's the people themselves. Better moderation won't change bad character.

Serious topics more often include things like debates.

Youll notice that the more serious and less casual the topic being discussed, the more passionately the person will feel about the topic, leading to more debates.

The bible is a very serious topic, and this is a forum, a place meant for discussions. There are more casual sections on the forum, such as the miscellaneous and singles sections. If you do not enjoy reading debates, then Id suggest to sticking to those areas.

I've seen a "Christian" website where, if you don't agree with the administrators and moderators on certain issues, you get banned. There are no perfect people - there are no perfect Christian websites - but I enjoy myself here a great deal.

CC is the second most popular and active Christian forum on the web and so for the mods to keep everyone in line would take a whole of them and from personal experience no one really listens anyways I go in the bdf forum and try to calm everyone down and still the waters and remind them we are called to be love but I have seen very very few actually take my advice to heart mostly people just keep going in their war threads

All we can do is be an example of the behavior we hope, others display and show respect even, when, we don't think they deserve it because God forgave is while we were His enemies and loved us even as sinners to call us to Him by His grace thru faith in Jesus.

So we sit idle and let it happen? Why have any authority in place? no body is perfect, not enough people to enforce ect.. Same is true everywhere but it doesn't mean things get left undone..

Do you guys understand how precious people are? Not everyone is strong..
Being a mod is by invitation so really they control how many they have.. If its numbers lacking, pick up some

This is not our site. We don't own it. We don't run it. If this is the way the owner of the site chooses to run things, then that is up to him. He chooses to allow things to be the way they are. It's not up to us. This isn't a democracy. If you aren't happy with the way the person who spent over 15 years running this site does things no one is forcing you to stay.

The internet is full of trolls -- its comes with the internet package. Every single forum has trolls it is just a common fact. Better to just ignore that stuff than put effort into it because for every 1 troll that leaves 2 more spawn. Just because this is a Christian forum doesn't mean there won't be trolls -- the truth is Christians take troll form commonly too, unfortunately. Rule 1# don't feed the trolls and they will just look for another place to get their troll on, simple as that.
