I've talked to some of the chatters, and a few of them say they have sermons they've wanted to give, and I personally wouldn't mind practicing and maybe getting feedback on them.

So, I'm proposing either a "Sermon" room or a "Practice Preaching" room. Sermon sounds better to me personally, where you can announce in the lounge that you have a sermon you'd like to give, and over time maybe a couple of the regular members could have regularly scheduled sermons.

Couldn't hurt right?

I think the answer to this question lies in Rule number 13 (I think it's 13).. the last rule on the list anyway... of the chat rules on the main page.

We simply can't allow anybody who is willing, to just organise teaching events. This rule explains that and why. I think it's pretty self-explanatory :)

Well of course it's easy to just dismiss it as too much of a hassle, but I was thinking that we could schedule it when there would be a mod available to make sure the person delivering the sermon isn't going against the Bible.

I'm sure there are a few mods who wouldn't mind giving a smidgen of their time to allow a person who wants to be in the ministry to practice. It's a noble cause! And, come on, "text only"? Who uses that anyway..

It's got nothing to do with it being a hassle. There are sound just reasons for this rule being in place. Did you even read it?

I don't think your idea is being dismissed. This forum is here for suggestions.

I think she's just trying to make you aware of our rules concerning people using this room for their preaching.

As a mod, I wouldn't have the patience to listen to someone preach for an hour or so as the rest of the rooms got neglected.

If you're trying to get some preachin experience, the best place to do it is in a church setting, or just practice in front of your mirror. You don't need a moderator to preach in front of your mirror.

Maybe he needs a mod to make sure he doesn't disagree with and end up in a fight with himself/his reflection.;)

No but seriously, I agree with the mod's, cause I mean, they can't take time out of doing their ''job'' to go and listen to a sermon...and that'd cause so many more issues cause there will be those that are all ''amen'' and those that are ''you're wrong'' or whatever. You could go and do that on youtube I guess, put up video's of sermons and let others comment and stuff. Ah well what do I know eh? God bless y'all!

I see, I see. It probably would be easier to just make a video, upload it to YouTube and just link it in a forum to anyone interested.

Oh! I see there's a "Bible Teaching from the Philippines" forum.. Could that just be "Bible Teaching"? I mean, there's only 1 thread there.. from over a year ago!

I don't think you understand.

We can't just change the name of that forum and allow anybody to post their 'teaching videos' on it. That is the WHOLE point of rule 13 and what I was trying to say earlier.

It's not an issue of mods being around, or facilities to cater for it.. it's simply the fact that we CANNOT just allow any user to come in here and charter this site or parts of it as a platform for their teaching. If we do that, it looks like we are condoning everything that is being taught/preached.. and we can't allow that image to be portrayed here, since there is NO WAY of having control over what people are actually teaching.. until it's already been said/posted.
That also means we can't allow you to post links to your youtube teaching clips.

Does that make sense? I think it's pretty clear :)

This is a Chat Site for Christians to meet.
TO MEET. Isn't that great?

Once you get to know them, you may now ask ways to contact them.
Have their contacts and you can have your own Bible Study, Preaching etc.
Elsewhere.

AGAIN, this is a great site to MEET other Christians and Fellowship.
:D
