I had an idea that the Teens room could get its own age-appropriate Moderators so we dont have to run around and bug the adults when someone is getting out of hand or an adult gets in somehow and wont leave. i know that picking a good moderator is difficult among the teenage world, but i can think of a couple of my friends who would only do their job and not abuse the privilege and authority they would have. I didnt know what anyone else thinks of this, and what your take on it is. i know that once the chat is reconstructed we will be rid of the adults getting in most likely, but unruly teens are and still will be prevalent.
im a little on the naughty side to be a teenMod, I would likelly get a little over-bearing and overzealous with the kick button, especially as a joke among friends, like AlaynaJ's Chuck Norris kick. and also, teen moderators would be best served to not be able to ban anyone, but rather have a report button or a 'banning recommended' that notifies a higher-level moderator to the situation and can thereby communicate directly with one and decide on whether just a kick or a ban is in need.

I agree! Its a really good idea.
I also like the suggestion that the teen moderators don't be allowed to ban anyone, just kick older people out of the teens room when they don't leave after fair warning.
It will be some what difficult to find a right teen mod for such a job because of the needed trust involved, the trust to keep an eye out for older people coming in & not to abuse the kicking privilege.

Unfortunately, I dunno if people would LISTEN to a teenage moderator. Or respect one, at that. =\ I mean I guess that's what the kicking feature would be for. BUT. I still think that moderators need to be people who are respected and people that would be listened to and heard, and I don't know of many, if any, teenagers are given that much respect on that sort of a level. If Robo could find someone like that maybe they could do something like that.

Titles do come with respect. When I was in high school I think I was the second youngest person with a leadership position. Most of the guys I used to detain where older than me, but they still respected me coz of my authority. So I think its not about age, its about character. God bless you

The Moderator would have to be strict and enforcing to maintain image and authority, but forgiving and friendly to be accepted and loved by the ones he or she is around to help. No, its far from an easy position to fill because of attitudes teens can get on a bad day (we've all been there), and because they can become abusive of their privileges. Respect would have to come with time, but I’m sure that if the person did their job and didn’t fool around too much (but you have to a little, it wouldn’t be like a teen to not fool lol), but broke the ice and let it be known that the teen mods weren’t there to take out all the fun, but to make sure the fun stayed around and stayed safe and clean, they would be very much appreciated I think. I have come across many people who could use a kick or two to put them back in their place but didn’t feel that it was problematic enough to drag a moderator into it, and also I think all teens are rather shy about talking to the adult mods if they don’t know them and thereby are hesitant to ask for help, they would be more comfortable going to someone closer to their age who they know and trust as a friend. teen mods would likely be like volunteers, unpaid just to make it simple. I know I wouldn’t ask for pay if I was to be keeping the perverts, and abusers out of teen rooms where they can cause havoc. they also may only have their moderator status in the teens room, so they don’t start trying to moderate in other rooms where the adults would likely not take kindly to a teenage moderator.

Well, I do agree it's not about age...it's about maturity.

Well, none of the moderators on here are paid. So anyone who becomes a moderator is a volunteer... and I can agree with what you said.

Actually, this seems like a good idea for several reasons, to me. I think the teens who usually gather in the teens room would probably have a good idea of who's mature and responsible, and could handle being a "kicker" without getting out-of-bounds with that responsibility.

I've got a teen friend on here (well, more than one, but I'm talking about one in particular here:D) who will periodically come into the lounge to get a mod for something that's been going on in the teens room. Maybe it's not as common as I think, but it seems like that's where a lot of situations happen.

'Course, I've never been in the teens room, so I'm not the best one to talk, haha.

And the cc mods do seem to be friendly and approachable, but I always hate bugging people, too... particularly if it means pulling the mod away from whatever room they're in.

I forgot to say what I thought of this overall....overall, I think that the idea is good. I laughed about it at first because I honestly thought "I dunno how people would respond to a teen mod." but now thinking it's a fairly good idea.

That's a great idea. As long as the teen doesn't abuse their position, then it's sound (scouse for alright or good).

But admins are paid. Though mostly they're still just referred to as mods.

Shemaiah - Titles don't always earn respect. I know of situations on CC where regulars have been purposefully disrespectful to mods.

Actually only Robo receives any income from the site for his countless hours working as Admin, and web master. Stilly and I, although we are part of the Admin team are volunteers like the Mods.

Yeah, there are people who don't know the word 'respect'. But the normal person will show respect. God bless

Hmm.. then quite a few people are thinking you two are in the money. 0.0

Right, but we're not talking about 'normal' people. We're talking about the need for people to be moderated because without it they often don't act right.

And really, true respect is earned. I've seen people in positions of respect, who were in no way someone to respect. So a title only earns a little respect. You still need to prove to a person that you are respectable for more than just a title.
