This weekend I went to a youth conference. I was having a great time worshipping, praising God, listening to Him and getting all into it! When it came time for the speaker, I was sitting there slightly zoning out, but paying enough attention to take notes. That’s when the speaker say, “If your Christianity is all about what you can’t do, then you don’t have a healthy relationship with God.” I knew before this conference that God had been tapping on my shoulder saying, “Laura, I want you to be in a leadership position.” Sadly, I just kept telling Him that I knew I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t be a leader in any way. However, when I heard that phrase come from that speaker’s mouth, that was the end of that. BAM! Right then God stopped tapping on my shoulder and broke my heart. He finally had my full attention. That lone sentence made complete sense! When you have a best friend, you don’t sit there and tell them that you can’t be there for them. Instead of being useless, you do everything in your power to be the very best friend for that person. So, why wouldn’t we do this for God? He’s are Friend, Father, Maker, Creator, and the list goes on. God loves us unconditionally. We should want to submit and surrender everything to Him! He will be there to help us in whatever we are going through, as long as we remember to surrender to Him. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of selfdiscipline.” I use this verse because I believe that most people fear the plans that God has for them; they are afraid to surrender, but you don’t have to be because God will be there to help you through.
