Okay so five years ago (Summer 2010) my mom was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She needed surgery to remove her thyroid gland right away! They removed it and that's when they found that it was cancerous so they did radiation treatment on her.

This has been the first and only time an immediate family member (I'm counting my grandma, aunts, uncle and cousins too) had cancer. We were all very worried and cried out with her. We needed Jesus. We needed the great practitioner. I cannot tell you how many months we prayed about this and fasted. She was only 43 years old! I could not lose my mother this soon! My brother wasn't even finished with high school. She is our only parent and we love her dearly.

I know now that not all cancer patients pass on, some of them make it. But as a naive 20 year old, I was clueless and really thought there was no way out of cancer. It was hard for her because her and my step-dad had just separated. I was four hours away at college and decided to go back home to be with her and my brother. She needed to take a few weeks off of work and I tried to do my best to keep her happy. I also had to take care of my brother and make sure he was getting to school every morning. It was hard and scary. I didn't know what was going to happen. We were all concerned, but all we could do was pray.

So after the radiation they checked her again and found no cancer cells in her thyroid! Praise God! The doctor told her that in five years she was going to need another scan to see if the cancer had come back. Well she had this done a week ago and the test results came back negative! She does not have cancer and has been cancer free for five years! We are so excited and happy!

Also, about six months ago they told her that she was borderline diabetic and that is she didn't do something quick, she was going to need to take pills for diabetes. This shocked her and she refused to accept it, so she started walking and dieting. In 6 months, she has lost 43 pounds! Yesterday she went to the doctor to get her sugar checked, and her numbers have gone down and she doesn't need the medication. So she doesn't have diabetes. If she continues walking and dieting, she will be very healthy, according to her doctor.

So I just wanted to thank God for all this and for healing my dear mother. I pray that she continues to get better and that her attitude is always positive.

I also wanted to share her story because I wanted you all to know that there is hope. It's not easy but it's there. We could not have done this without Jesus.

If you or someone you love is going through something hard like this, pray and lean on Him. If you want to talk about it, you can PM too.

God bless you all.

I was diagnosed five years ago with uterine cancer, and as you can see, I'm not dead..lol.. :) I just celebrated my 5 year anniversary on July 7th. Molly, if you haven't read my story yet, please do and show it to your mom also.. :)

God bless you both and congrats to mom. :)
I guess I was feeling hopeless at that time because three of my high school teachers died from cancer in two years! One of them had been my Spanish teacher for three years and I saw her go through treatment after treatment with no avail. :( But she had brain cancer, and I've heard that that one is very fatal.

Thank you! I'll be sure to read it and share it with my mom. I'm glad that you survived! God bless you, Blue! :D

I had a professor pay away from a 20 year battle last year, just weeks before my graduation.. And my step brother in law is currently battling stage 3 cancer.. So your post definitely hits home. Thank you, sister, for your story, and praise God for the healing of your mother!

Praise God Molly!!

He said, He will make a way out of every situation. If we would wholly trust in His will. I am thankful for the health of your mom and the peace that God has brought into your family.

Pray that u are in good health tourist as well.
Thank you. It was melanoma but the doctor was able to remove all of it from my right shoulder. It was the same arm that was broken a few years ago. I have 90% mobility left so that's not so bad for someone my age. Thank you for your kind words and God Bless You.
