I was born in 1960
......My first recollections were that of a broken family. I don't even remember my mother and father being together but I lived with my mother until the age of 7. I then went, rather unwillingly, to a life with my dad on a farm which later turned out to be more of a prison for me. When my dad was home, he was drunk, or on his way to getting there. My step-mom, I use the word loosely, was not much of a mother figure to me and my brother. We had to raise ourselves because she was an alcoholic in her own right. My brother and I lived through all of the abuses that are inherent in an alcoholic household.

Through it all, I had it in my mind that GOD really did exist, despite the teaching from an agnostic/atheistic upbringing. I wanted to know who God was and what He required of me.

1979...I was 18 when I left...
After I was away from the farm and that atmosphere/environment, I started my search.
The first belief I had was a negative towards Christianity because of an uncle who claimed Christ but did some "not very Christian things", so I had my mind made up.
I was then "easy prey" for the Jehovah's Witnesses. I will admit, they just about had me. I started asking them questions and the answers to my questions brought up more and more questions.

1985 Got married to my one and only wife...God bless her!!

My search for God took a back seat to finding a sister, that I had found out about, who was given up for adoption before I was born. My wife and I moved around a lot in our early years.
1990...
As we started our family, we decided to move home. Her parents had given us a lot on the same lake where my wife had grown up. I was employed in the city. I put a trailer on the lot to use as a cottage and we would live there until we could afford a house in the city.
By this time we had 2 kids and one on the way. We had a boy first, then a girl, then another boy.....
The day came when our girl, 2 years old, got sick. We were told that she was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy, and would require a heart transplant before the age of 12.

I DIED.....My life was over....My little girl, did not have a good chance at living for even 5 more years.
We were devastated, my wife and I.
NEWS FLASH.......The search for God is back on schedule!!!!...minus the Jehovah's Witnesses, They are now passe.

1995
My search for God was resuming in fits and starts.
My employer was making it very difficult for getting time off to spend with my daughter...devastating in and of itself.

Meanwhile, I decided to put a basement under the cottage, which set us back financially and even more when the basement collapsed due to extensive melting snow in January. I was devastated once again.

Relations with my wife and her family was crumbling.....ongoing devastation.

There came THAT day.

A soft drizzle was coming down that day. I had just put my outdoor clothes on to go for a walk to cool down. I just had been arguing with my mother-in-law. As I walked I was talking to myself and trying to come to terms and cope with all that was happening. I found that I couldn't cope anymore, I was lost, my life was over.....Then, I purposed to end my own life. I would go back to the house, get my gun and then end it once and for all.

You can call me whatever you like......Unbelievably to me, I heard the voice in my head, not through my ears, like someone spoke right at the top of my head. I now know that it was the Holy Spirit who intervened.
He told me to give Jesus a try. I said that I had, to which He told me that I know in my heart that I hadn't.
I really knew, until that point, I hadn't.

I never looked back from that moment....I was saved. I already knew what was needed for salvation, the Holy Spirit came and saved me that day. I accepted Christ as my Saviour and was baptized by in a Local Christian Church a short time later, and my faith and beliefs have grown from that day.
Some time after I suffered 2 heart attacks, and have been diagnosed with Disk Degenerative disease and Rheumatoid arthritis.

2013 Present Day
Here I am on this forum...an old guy, married(20 some years now), retired, on disability, and never did find my real sister!....My daughter however, went on to receive a heart transplant at the age of 18, is doing well, now 23 and sharing an apartment with her two brothers. We also have a younger daughter who is 19 and on her way to being a chef.

I'm healed by the Blood of Christ....see you in heaven if not in this lifetime (which I believe is just about exhausted)

I love you all.....In Christ...Blair
