I am Katie i am 16 years old. i Became a christian when i was 7 years old, my mum helped lead me to the Lord. I had a very childlike faith but i had a good amount of knowledge right up until i was a little older to understand things better. When i was 10 i started feeling very ill and it went on for a good few years, I went to the hospital when i was 12 after fainting and taking a fever and losing a lot of weight along with other symptoms. I had many tests done and was in hospital for a long while finally they found out what it was and diagnosed me with crohn's disease, it was very bad. So they told me that next day that i would have to go off ALL food for 12 weeks of my life, they put me on drinks called modulen where i had to drink 8 200ml drinks a day and that was all i was allowed i found it very hard.
Through this time when i was being diagnosed and had been, i felt like God was no where near me, i even questioned his existence, though somehow i knew he was there or at least helping me through the nightmare, looking back i can honestly say that by myself i would not have been able to get through it. Many people prayed for me in my church and i believe that worked wonders.
Eventually i came off the drinks and a week later after being back on food they had to put me back on them for 6 weeks as a was ill again. Yet again when i came off they just hadnt got me stable. So along came the steroids which made me puff out like a hot air balloon, after being on them i had to go back on them 2months later as i needed them again, i found it hard to accept the way i looked and lost self confidence. But God helped me develop my personality not my looks and i wouldnt be who i am today without my illness.
Through this time as i was sick so much i lost friends and made new ones, and i went through many problems, but God always stayed by my side. In october 2009 i was so sick my name was put done on a charity and got accepted.. i went with dreamflight to florida, it is a charity that takes seriously ill and disabled children and gives them a holiday of a lifetime! it was wonderful!
As life went on i grew more and more stronger in my faith with God to the point i fully trusted him..
in 2010 i went on a mission with my church to scotland, cumnock, one night in the upper room we were worshipping and praying and listening and something powerful happened everyone broke down crying, i was so burdened with my illness and my life that i just cryed and cryed.. i believe that God healed me from my illness that night.. my ilness was incurable it could only be kept stable by medication.
In the following september i went for a 2nd check up scan and my illness was no longer there and could not be seen in my bowel! God has truly worked miracles in my life!
In June 12th 2011 i got baptised to outwardly express my faith to everyone, one of my school friends louise became a christian!
and now i am continuing in my faith with the Lord God almighty.
