In March of 1979, I had been sitting on the metal toilet of a prison cell, smoking what turned out to be my last cigarette. I had two cellmates: one was a course, loud talking biker, and the other a Christian. The Christian cellmate had been reading to one of the prison officers from the Bible, and suddenly the Holy Spirit had filled my heart to the point that I had dropped the cigarette to the ground and felt tears pouring from my eyes. Intuitively, I knew that the Lord was speaking Acts 2:38 to me: "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." (I must leave, so I will continue this later)
