Tithing is not taught to the N.T. churches because God raises up cheerful givers to provide for the church.
But nowadays, churches teach tithing and/or making & keeping pledges of giving, thus robbing the church of God's indescribable gift of seeing Him provide by raising up cheerful givers. It is not the church's business to know if you are giving or not, because it is between you & God. If you have a family to support that is in need, you are to provide for your own house and trust God to provide for the church.
1 Timothy 5:[SUP]4 [/SUP]But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.[SUP]5 [/SUP]Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.[SUP]6 [/SUP]But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.[SUP]7 [/SUP]And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.[SUP]9 [/SUP]Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man.[SUP]10 [/SUP]Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.[SUP]11 [/SUP]But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;
Scriptural reference for anonymous giving to the church is at this link below in 2 Corinthians 9th chapter in the KJV.

Jesus does not have anything against giving to get a tax deduction for giving at your church or your favorite charity, but do know you have already received your reward.
I would have to say it is hard to give anonymously these days, but Christ may show you a way if you ask Him.
Matthew 6:1Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.[SUP]2 [/SUP]Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.[SUP]3 [/SUP]But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:[SUP]4 [/SUP]That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
I sure wish I could give anonymously. Oh well.
Psalm 51:[SUP]15 [/SUP]O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.[SUP]16 [/SUP]For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.[SUP]17 [/SUP]The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
Psalm 4:[SUP]4 [/SUP]Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.[SUP]5 [/SUP]Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.[SUP]6 [/SUP]There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? Lord, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.
Did I read that right? The sacrifice of righteousness is by putting your trust in the Lord when things look bleak for us? I believe this to be true. At least poor people now know how give the sacrifices of righteousness to the Lord by placing their trust in Him.
