Shalom,
I registered about 3 days ago and by now I have been noticed in the Lounge chat room. I thought it only appropriate that I introduce myself and make decisively clear my intentions of being here. I love to chat and to be around good, clean people; that is hard to find on the internet as I am sure that everyone here is aware. I did a thorough search for a place on the internet that would be more appropriate for me but there is none, nowhere. In my googling, I found this site and thought to myself, "Why not, we share the same morals and values as Christians do." So I came here with the intention to lurk for a day or so to check it out. You all are an awesome group of people, very open and receptive of newcomers; reminds me of my past Church days as a child.
Anyways, I am an American/Israeli Orthodox Jew living in Israel for 14 years now. I am a convert. I was born and raised a Southern Baptist. I want to state emphatically that I am not opposed to Christianity in the slightest and I believe that it is a praiseworthy religion (relationship as many prefer). I am even encourging and respectful when I see someone come to the room to be saved and have not and will not ever interfere; I would never do that. In the Jewish faith, it is forbidden to seek and try to convert others to our way of thinking and believing. Judaism even pushes away would be converts with a strong hand. I had to fight for three years to be accepted and then I had to prove my sincerity for the next 3 years, all in all, a 6 year, arduous process to become Jewish. And I say with all honesty, it is much better to NOT become a Jew.
"Nevertheless, each person should live as a believer in whatever situation the Lord has assigned to them, just as God has called them. This is the rule I lay down in all the churches. Was a man already circumcised when he was called? He should not become uncircumcised. Was a man uncircumcised when he was called? He should not be circumcised. Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God’s commands is what counts. Each person should remain in the situation they were in when God called them." 1 Corinthians 7:17-20
I just wanted to make pointedly clear that it is not my intention to take anyone away from the Body of Christ. I just want a place where I can engage in good, clean chat with others who share my same morals and life values. Because I have been asked more than once why it is that Jews do not accept Jesus as The Messiah, I decided that I would put a short, 7 minute video clip on my profile to give a brief answer to that question. If the admins or mods deem it to be anti-Christian, then I will remove it at once to comply with the rules of CC chat.
I hope that you all will allow me to stay and share in your company.
God Bless,
Yosef Karo
