Peace be with you, the Apostles not, because they have build churches, given them their instructions and completed the book of Revelation, all of them chosen by CHRIST according to the New Testament in order to complete them.
From them and the HOLY SPIRIT and from the True churches. Missionaries, Evangelizes and etc continue their work, imitating them as they imitate CHRIST. This is in regards to the sound doctrine of the Holy Bible.
Prophets, yes, for there is a gift of Prophesy in the church. This is in regards to the Holy Bible Scripture (1 Corinthians chapter 12).

I really think we need to look at descriptors used when the temple that God is building is described.

Jesus is called a cornerstone.
Apostles/Prophets are called foundation.

Evangelists, pastors, teachers, are not given any type of description like cornerstone or foundation.

Jesus being called a cornerstone indicates it's a once and for all thing.
We won't be looking for any more Jesuses.
One shot deal.
THE cornerstone of the temple.
A building only has one cornerstone.

Apostles/prophets are considered foundation in that temple.
That like the cornerstone, indicates it's a one time, not continued thing.

Evangelists, pastors, teachers on the other hand, are not given a once and for all descriptor such as cornerstone, or foundation, which indicates it's not a one time happening, but continues.

Evangelists, pastors, teachers, proclaim the once and for all work of Jesus the cornerstone, and they rely on the once and for all teaching of the apostles/prophets foundation.

Jesus is the cornerstone, and apostles/prophets are foundation, because they form the basis of the work which evangelists, pastors, teachers carryout.

Eph 2
[SUP]18 [/SUP]For through him we both haveaccess in one Spirit to the Father.[SUP]19 [/SUP]So then you are no longer strangers and aliens,[SUP][d][/SUP] but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,[SUP]20 [/SUP]built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone,[SUP]21 [/SUP]in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord.[SUP]22 [/SUP]In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by[SUP][e][/SUP] the Spirit.

Eph 4
[SUP]10 [/SUP]He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.) [SUP]11 [/SUP]And he gave the apostles, the prophets, theevangelists, the shepherds[SUP][c][/SUP] and teachers,[SUP][d][/SUP] [SUP]12 [/SUP]to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, [SUP]13 [/SUP]until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood,[SUP][e][/SUP] to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, [SUP]14 [/SUP]so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.
Your arguement is that once the foundation has been laid those "stones" are no longer needed. Jesus is said to be the cornerstone. Does that mean he stopped being proactive once He work was done or is He still very much proactive? The cornerstone is the first stone laid down in the foundation which starts to define the location of the building.

the cornerstone is still needed...so is the foundation...

the cornerstone now sits at the right hand of God ruling everything for our good...the stones of the foundation are now in heaven but they continue to teach and minister to us through their writings...

just because they aren't right here right now doesn't mean we need to find new ones...

Who said anything about searching for new revelation?
Did the prophets of the O.T. differ from the Apostles in the N.T.?
If so how?
They both point to Jesus as the author and finisher of our faith.
Why are you so distrusting of the Holy Spirit to speak to the church today through called out people(prophets), that will remind the body of Christ of those things they need. (This is the office of a prophet).
So they are false ones? So that office is no more?
Are you serious? Please see how many false prophets were in the O.T. times and false Apostles in the N.T. times.
Takes discernment.
But then again the testimony of Jesus Christ is the spirit of prophecy.
Always has been, always will be.

So dead to rely on ink.
Which you will shortly put away.

Biblical apostles were naked, homeless, scorned, flogged, whipped.
Does being accused of heresy, thrown out of churches, and phone calls threatening to burn your house down count? I know some personally in each category, whose new works in the Kingdom are standing today.

Scripture is profitable for doctrine, including doctrine on gifts like prophecy. That is the issue. Do we believe what the Bible teaches about these gifts, or don't we?

They will never answer when the gifts ended.
They just won't.
Because that would entail that they consider the canon as perfect.
And those who read it as seeing God 'face to face'; and thus only perfect charity(love) remains.
Well, let's see.......how has that worked out so far?
How many denominations are there ?????
How various are the interpretations ?????
- - - Oh!, and since Satan is bound, then all those martyrs were just kid's stuff.
