I am seriously considering astral projection but wanted to hear what the bible says about it if its in there
Many many years ago before I was a Christian I trained under a Zen Buddhist 5th degree Shorin Ryu karate master who had a Samurai academy in the ghetto I lived in at the time in SoCal and he would do occultic things like have us lay down and try to initiate astro travel for the purpose of honing an occultic skill to check up on enemies. He would also have us face a wall with someone on the other side holding a weapon and try to get us to perceive what weapon would be the best to choose when they came through the door. Needless to say I had some nightmares and other negative experiences as a result of this sort of training.
As a Christian, everything that was not of God I fully repented from and have not trained since. I thank God for His grace and His love and His holy rightousness.
It is a sad and frightening fact that people are fascinated with the secret or "occult" things that God has condemned (Deut. 18:9-12).
The psychic phenomenon of astral projection occurs when an individual in a state of consciousness claims to leave the physical body and travel long distances, observing other people, recording their actions, and returning to the body to confirm it. Letters, phone calls, and e-mails are all methods of confirmation-detailed proof provided to those "visited."
When the mind and heart are opened to these types of occult experiences, a person becomes exposed to malignant spiritual beings waiting to take advantage of any vulnerability. The Bible calls these fallen angels demons. Astral projection may seem harmless on the surface, but its potential impact can be devastating.
People involved in psychic phenomena often quote the Bible to legitimize their experiences. For example, a passage commonly cited in defense of levitation is the ascension ofJesus in Luke 24:51-53. The meaning of ascend is "to go up"; therefore, some argue that Jesus must have levitated into heaven. Christ Was the supreme medium who defied the laws of gravity. Mediums involved with levitation defend it by saying they are simply doing what Jesus did, perfectly in line with the psychic phenomena in the Bible.
But they have been deceived by the devil. Jesus never floated back down to earth as they do. All people who levitate return to the earth 100 percent of the time because they are using occultic powers which are finite. Consider the power of God that moved Philip from one place to another was so that the gospel of Jesus Christ might be preached to bring people to Christ and so God might be glorified. Objects apported in psychic phenomena imitate the power of God, but the purpose is to lead people away from God and deeper into the occult where the devil is trying to bind them for destruction.
If anyone thinks playing with such things will not result in negative consequences to their lives ranging from serious oppression (nightmares, insomnia, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts) to outright demonic possession over time is deceiving themselves even as they are being deceived.
If you have been involved in any occultic activities, repent immediately and remove all such things from you and your home. Ask Jesus to forgive you and wash you clean. If you are not yet a Christian, it's time to become one.
Pray to God. Acknowledge that you are a sinner in need of a savior and that no good deeds that you do can gain you access into Heaven. Believe that Jesus is the son of God and He alone has the power to forgive your sins. Ask Jesus to forgive your sins and to indwell you with His Holy Spirit. You could pray a prayer just like this: Lord, Thank You for dying on the cross and taking my punishment for my sins. I know that I could never be fit for Heaven without You. So I invite You to come into my life and be my Lord and my Savior. Afterwards, follow the New Testament instruction of seeking water baptism and don't wait: immediately find a community of authentic Christian believers to fellowship with.

The early Christians preached the gospel and demonstrated the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit-gifts given according to the will of God (Heb. 2:4). It was not just the Word that went forth; it was the power that went forth, and that is as true today as it was in the first century. God not only saves people, but God also manifests Himself in power. He heals minds, bodies, lives, marriages, and memories. He saves to the uttermost. It is our history-our heritage-and we should lay claim to it.
A Christian person who is filled with the Holy Spirit need never fear the occult. The demons know when a person walks with God; the demons recognize the presence of the Sprit of God and tremble with fear. NOT the other way around. Put on the whole armor of God and stand against the methods of the devil (Eph. 6). God does not send you into combat in your underwear; He sends you in equipped for combat.
God says that if your Christian life is all together, you are armed and ready, but if your Christian life is weak, you are vulnerable to attack, deception, oppression (though an authentic Christian cannot be possessed in my experience as they are truly God's). So enjoy your Christian life and avoid anything having to do with the occult. Study God's Word, pray to God, be filled with the Spirit, fellowship and worship with other Christians, and preach the Word. The Lord knows those who are His. He is a stronghold in the day of trouble. Praise the Lord!
