The "one baptism" stated in this Scripture is the baptism of the Holy Spirit.........you have no proof whatsoever that it is "water." Sorry, but nice try.

1 .) I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2 .) With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
3 .)
Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
4 .) There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5 .)
One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 .) One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
7 .)
But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

Nothing to do with water baptism............sigh.............

Acts 8:29) Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.
30 .) And Philip ran thither to him,
and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
31 .) And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
32 .) The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
33 .) In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
34 .)
And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
35 .) Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
36 .) And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
37 .)
And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
38 .) And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
39 .) And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
40 .) But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.

Water baptism isn't what did it for this guy.............it was BELIEF IN JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR.......sorry......

I don't know what church you belong to, but reading through your comments, they appear to be the standard teachings of the CoC................and, given that, I believe it would be best that we simply agree to disagree.............

I believe between the both of you. You have done an exlentcent job of teaching that baptism saves and is for us today.

P_rehbein are you a memeber of the RCC?
I was thinking the same thing. The inquisition seems to be popular again.

Is this just your opinion or do you have proof it is not water baptism?

F.F. Bruce, a Greek scholar, wrote that proper exegesis is that words are to be taken at their literal face value, that is, baptism in the bble is to always be undestood a literal immersion in water unless the context says it is being used figuratively. Nothing in the context of Eph 4:4,5 shows 'baptizo' is being used figuratively as in some kind of figurative spiritual baptism.

Mk 16:15,16 is the human administered water baptism of Christ's great commission where the ONE Lord spoke of the ONE faith and ONE baptism that saves.

1) in Eph 1:1-9 Paul said the Ephesians were spiritually located "in Christ", "in Him". Water baptism is what puts one in Christ, Gal 3:27; Rom 6:3-6.

2) Eph 2:8 says the Ephesians were saved through faith

Eph 2:8>>>>faith>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>saves
1Pet3:21----baptism>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>saves

Only one way to be sved so the Ephesians faith must have included water baptism of 1 Pet 3:21 that saves.

4) Paul met about 12 Ephesians who Paul then "baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus" This baptism in the name of Jesus is the same human administered water baptism of Acts 2:38; Acts 10:47,48, Christ's water baptism of the great commission.

5) Eph 5:26 the Epeheisans were born again.

Jn 3:5---------------spiit++++++++++++++water>>>>>>>>>>>>>in the kingdom
Eph 5:26---------the word++++++++++washing of water>>>>>>cleansed

Water/washing of water an indication of WATER baptism

First, there was no spirit baptism that took place with the Eunuch, he was water baptized. So there goes your "one baptism" of Eph 4:5 being spirit baptism....it is WATER baptism.

Secondly preaching "Jesus" implies teaching water baptism for when the Eunuch saw water he requested to be water baptized having just been taught "Jesus". Phillip said he could be water baptized if he believed...."he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved" Mk16;16 which is the human administered water baptism of Christ's great commission. No belef only took place at all. You did not hi-lite verse 38 for some reason

You will not learn anything with that attitude. You may prove your point to your satisfaction but you can accomplish that in front of the mirror.
