The ones who preach to no one in particular just in the past week:
MessageoftheCross, Nobleman, KingJamesVersionBibleOnly, GOP, WebersHome, Nehemiah6, LightshinesintheDarkness, newton3003, followJesus, and LW97.
Do you not notice? At the time I wrote this, half the first page was full of ats, not tos.
Not really. I don't click on that many threads. Especially if someone has the same hobby horse.
I know in my church for someone to have "authority" as a teacher or pastor, you have to be commissioned.
It's like a covenant between the person and the congregation. Both sides promises something to one another....kind of like the New covenant Jesus has with the Church.
Not sure if any of this will make sense but I will take a shot at it.....
As parents God entrusts us with the care of our children for a period of time.
Jesus said God entrusted Him with His disciples and he didn't lose any except for the one preordained to depart (Judas Iscariot).
Paul called Timothy his son in the faith.
We are also told to view older men and women as fathers and mothers in the faith, and to view younger men and women as spiritual sisters and brothers.
I point all this out because I believe teachers and pastors are entrusted with the souls of new believers or babes in Christ until such a time they are mature and grounded in Him and the faith.
I don't really see that happening here on CC.
Yes we have a few great people who have a lot of heavenly wisdom. We also have a lot who have wisdom but it's not of the heavenly sort.
.....I had a point but I lost it. Sorry Lynn....
I think I remember....,just because someone is appointed a pastor of one church, doesn't mean they can just walk into the door of any church and start preaching.
Many people use CC as a pulpit, when really it's just a stage where people can stop and listen or just keep on walking.
In a way I see CC as a stand on a street corner, more than a pulpit in a church setting.
Sometimes we get a really good discussion going, but I have found if it continues for more than a couple of weeks it deevolves into fighting.
One good thing CC does is test your faith and make you dig deep into the Bible and prayer to see if your beliefs hold up or if they may just be man made traditions of what you have been taught and never questioned.
