How many so called generational curses are actually learned addictive behaviors?
For example...a girl is born into a unsaved or even saved home and all her formative years she sees that Mom always deals with stress by drinking to excess....by the time she is 15 the girl starts dealing with stress by drinking to excess....she leaves home and this learned addictive behavior is in full swing...she gets married and she deals with stress by drinking to excess...her daughter is born and that young girl see's that grandma and mom always deal with stress by drinking to excess.....
Now change the word stress for anything else and insert drinking for drugs, sexual immorality, etc.....
Now do we have a satanic generational curse, that must be broken or do we have learned addictive behaviors that need to be addressed?
I know my example does not cover everything and I know that demonization is real and can affects blood lines, but my point is that I think the church at times confuses the demonic for those who are simply entangled by learned addictive behaviors and those Children of God that struggle with works of the flesh....
There is not a devil behind every detail and when we play that game we damage people more than we save them....
This is a hard one for me to address.
On the one hand, if you have learned behaviours that are passed down from generation to generation and they are a curse and not a blessing, they can be broken in Christ Jesus.
On the other hand, the power of suggestion from someone who is respected could cause more problems than they fix.
Its like everything else, for everything that is real there is a counterfeit. But don't think that because you can spot the counterfeit so easily that there is no real thing.
I'm not sure if I am saying this in a way that is understandable. For every learned behaviour that is a curse the Lord is available as a stop to it and a blessing in its stead.
