My main problem with Daniel 9 24-27 was the different translations. They vary immensely. When I researched it I found that there were different source manuscripts that the translators worked from.
In general I like the NRSV:
e.g. first someone's armies destroy the Temple, (e.g. Titus) and then: (NRSV)
and for half of the week he shall make sacrifice and offering cease; and in their place shall be an abomination that desolates,
Well, that is consistent. Titus's armies destroyed the Temple AD 70, so AD 70-73 there was no offering or sacrifice, whilst the Roman war against Judea continued.
'in their place': Where were the sacrifices and offerings made? In the Temple precincts - not necessarily the Holy of Holies itself.
The Roman Armies simply stuck their standards with an image of Zeus/Jove on on the Temple Mount.
