Thinking about deliverance in general...thinking of all who have come to me for
council...it got to be that the first question id ask was....."tell me about your prayerlife"
Id seen that the condition of the person matched their prayerlife.

Ive talked to people who have went to church for a few years, and were afraid to pray. I mean
they had no private prayerlife...none...yet struggled to live for the Lord...we cant presume anything!
I really got to thinking that i had a deliverance ministry...delivering them from prayerlessness. LOL
Simply by teaching them to pray and praying with them to start...they were set free.

Its amazing how important small things we can overlook are keeping them in bondage.
Again deliverance comes from obedience. Imagine people who are afraid to talk to
God for years. I was so surprised, but it isnt uncommon i found out. I cant imagine one
day without prayer...id dry up and blow away.[/quote

Yes, lol Jesus said obedience is better than sacrifice, prayer is very important.
Amen! Pray unceasingly!
Prayer brings and invites in Jesus the will and presance of God in ones life in all.
It praises and gives glory to God.
It is to look always and rest always in Jesus, calling always to His care and guidence.
God's glory banishes any and all evil.
It keeps one always mindfull of His presance and power.
If one lives their life, in prayer, they are always mindful of the presance of Jesus with them, and if one lives as though Jesus , God Our Father is presant, well.. who wants to disobey when the one they love and answer to is right there with them. :)

God bless.

OP: Great post!! Very INFORMATIVE. Thumb's up!

Zone and Phil: Nonsense to your"nonsense"!

Abiding: "These ideas prove their faith in the Holy Spiri'ts impotance importance??, and makes it the work of man. They talk of the supernatural ,yet they believe it to be done physically. Many prophetic ACTS were in the Bible. Washing and regeneration comes from not the word and the Spirit but someone who stumbles upon a website and listens to a few sermons, or reads a few books, or even takes some coarses. Discernment is a GIFT that we CAN ASK FOR.

If I didnt believe in John 17 id say these people could keep someone from believing. Just they way they dishonor Him and make us look like clowns following a God with so little power, order, or wisdom. And it also shows their attitude to the power of the gospel, prayer, and the means and necessity of growth in grace. It decieves the weak and young and does the opposite of what it promices. But it has been given in the list of signs and wonders Jesus brings up on judgement day, and makes for exciting boastings..opps i mean testimonies. " Teachings on deliverance and warfare EMPOWER the weak and EDUCATE the unknowledgeable. And if they don't, it's usually because there is a DEMON of religion...a religious spirit, that is interfering with the person's ability to understand and receive.

ANA: how do people continously "wrestle" against spiritual wickedness in high places? This is the 'resisting the enemy' as well as taking authority and commanding them to leave when you recognize or realize their presence; it is also striving to rest in the Lord; it is going to the Cross when Holy Spirit convicts you of something. It is ALL done so that the enemy...the wicked spirits...cannot succeed against us.

Zone and Phil, why do so many who call themselves Christians believe and teach it? Because it is a reality that far too many do not acknowledge.

Noah's Mom: "Demons will use these wounds and weaknesses against the person, as leverage to hold them in bondage and get them to re-open doors so that they can re-enter. Once I gave it to the Lord, Thats just it, I gave it. You might give it to the Lord, but the demons are persistent and will repeatedly attack, annoy, and try to influence you!
Removing legal rights: Legal rights are things that give demons permission to enter and remain in our lives. Before demons can often be cast out, it is important to address and remove these legal rights. The teaching on Legal Rights lists the most common legal rights and how you can go about removing them. Failing to remove legal rights can hold up a deliverance very easily.Demons have legal rights ? Never heard of this, and Im bein serious.........." Every time we sin we give the demonic a legal right to attack us, to influence us, to use that 'open door' to gain access to our lives. Our rightEOUSNESS render them right-less!

# 11, Loveschild: EXACTLY!!

ANA: "having the Holy Spirit reside in your heart and soul cancels out any legal right a demon may claim. No, it does not. Every believer has Jesus in their heart. Every one that has had the baptism of the Holy Spirit is empowered for ministry by the Holy Spirit. However, EVERY believer, spirit-filled or not, sins, hopefully without intent. (and that thought is for another thread). And sin is what opens the door.

demons only have rights when you live under the LAW and not under GRACE. " Not true and you will not find that in scripture.

ZONE: "ONLY GOD GIVES DEMONS 'LEGAL' RIGHTS TO DO ANYTHING. " That's RIGHT !! NOW you are beginning to understand! God has given the demons the RIGHT to accost us when we sin. It is our CHOICE to sin and when we do, they have a God-given right to step in. God created them FOR the purpose of evil...the goal being that when we sin and are attacked because of that, we turn to Him and seek refuge.

Well if there is "occult warfare" just WHO are they warring AGAINST?? Yeah,....us and our Lord.

ANA: Loveschild: "You don't know what your talking about. Why are you hearing hearing demons if the Holy Spirit canceled it out??"
Ana: "Because God allows it so I might be warned of the lies people claiming to be "helping" me will tell me, that way when I hear the words spoken I know they are from demons and not God." No Anandhya. Hearing demons is not the same thing as hearing ignorant people. You SHOULD be able to hear both the Holy Spirit AND demons...everyone does, but most do not recognize the evil or nasty thoughts as being from demons. The KEY is DISCERNMENT. And you can ask the Lord, daily even, for discernment so you can better decipher between His voice and theirs. The reason that the Lord tells us in HIs word, to have His word written upon our hearts is so that when we DO get a thought from the enemy, we will have a working knowledge of His word by which to judge its source.

Example:
Lie: "Sin gives legal rights to demons to enter human bodies." Truth

Truth: Demons can not enter any human body that has the indwelling Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit resides in our spiritual HEARTs and SOULs but the demons can enter the FLESH. they can only whisper lies OUTSIDE the human bodies. THEY do not possess God's people, Correct. Believers are POssessed by Holy Spirit they just try and get invited in So they CAN get in... by causing the people to sin and reject GOD. Even then they can NOT enter but instead keep the person from being an effective witness to winning souls to Christ. The fact that a person that has sinned is carrying an evil entity (until they repent) does render them less effective. But it isn't that the get in and then the person sins. It's the other way around...the person sins and opens the door and then it comes in. When the person has the HOLY SPIRIT MATURE inside them and the full armor of GOD firmly in place then they can do battle and help and teach others. ONLY if they understand HOW to appropriate what Christ did on the cross. And...FYI, one does not put on the armor but standing up and reciting what the armor is. The 'wearing' of the Amour is both a character issue and a prophetic act. that is why I test any who wish to "teach" me anything.. That is wisdom.

If they sin they have the breastplate of righteousness, NOT their righteousness But CHRIST's who is perfect. IF they sin and do not repent, that breastplate is damaged and not in the protective condition that the Lord designed it to be. the demons will lie and say it is their sin that allows them rights to torment them, but it is a LIE. HUH?? Yes, demons lie. That is what they were created to do. It's their JOB! Demons do not sin, they do wickedness as God designed them to do. It is OUR sin that allows them the right to attack.

Good and thoughtful response, I am impressed and thankful! As with all things, CONTEXT
and deeper insight are keys. While I do not subscribe to general-audience deliverance,
there is a scriptural approach to understanding demons, their sources, the ability to
rebuke and drive them out (remember, some can only be driven out with prayer and
fasting) and the ability to empower the afflicted, to heal, and to create a barrier against
demons, as either remedial or preventative.

* This isn't a subject for your average Sunday-go-to-churcher, I don't usually discuss it.
These things are for those adept/with a mastery of understanding and training and
experience.

* The fact that demons exist should not be much of a debate.

* The fact that Jesus and others drove them out should be clear.

* The fact that one can drive out demons and teach others to avoid them should not be
hard to accept.

* I believe for some, the idea that a 'christian' versus a 'churchian' for example can have
a demon is harder, maybe being looked at as promise of a 'magic' solution.

* A lot of this discussion is about 'christians', whatever that is (milk, meat, babe, mature,
how mature, etc.)

* Believe that many who are in need of healing are not christians, but seekers. Many are
churchians. Secondly, there are gradations of maturity in professing christians, and there
is the issue of past baggage that a believer may carry. Think of a person formerly
addicted to alcohol, tobacco, drugs, porn, or any form of overindulgence. Even though
they may have 'kicked the habit' as it were, for many, the demon persists in a latent or
dormant state and can be awakened by various societal triggers. A steady diet of
scripture, and a new walk are critical. Some of these demons are both physiological as
well as spiritual/psychological.

*People live in or come from different cultures (see the picture below). A child who faces
hunger or abuse or neglect each day will see the world differently than one who does not.
Likewise an adult in a lifestyle situation that is not spiritually (or physically) healthy will
be susceptible -- this is the practical matter -- you can debate they should remedy this,
and that is true -- but many 'christians' need this sort of guidance.

* Some might understand the conce
pts of addictions, stage-change-theory and such like
and can relate that a person might be at var
ious stages of vulnerability or empowered to
various levels of resistance.

SEVEN DEMONS, SEVEN DEADLY SINS

Some thoughts (Biblical Counseling Foundation - Self-Confrontation Manual):

* The process of biblical change, explained in God’s Word, begins when you repent of your
sin and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. God has given you everything you need to make
the changes in your life that will
please Him and will lead to His blessings. As you continue
to obey God’s Word, biblical change toward maturity will occur in your life until you see
Jesus face to face.

* You can never truly understand or help others, even in your own family, unless you first
look thoroughly into your own life and deal with your own sins without compromise,
excuses, or evasion (Matthew 7:1-5).

* Neglecting or refusing God’s ways brings multiplied problems. To deal effectively with
your problems, you must realize your inadequacy and turn to the power of God for
salvation. Then, you will b
e able to make the necessary biblical changes that characterize
a child of God as you reverently depend on God and His Word.

* Man’s “solutions” to your difficulties will ultimately fail because they do not deal with
the source of your problems: your heart. God’s solutions, as revealed in Scripture, go to
the heart of the matter where permanent change is accomplished.

* When you willingly or unknowingly are under the control of any power other than God’s
Holy Spirit (e.g., drugs, alcohol, sex, another person, your peer group, a false religion, a
self-centered habit such as gossip or laziness, or a self-oriented desire for power, food, or
wealth), you are in bondage to sin. However, God has broken the power of sin through the
Lord Jesus Christ, and you can overcome sinful habits by depending on His strength and
being obedient to His Word
.

* God has defeated Satan through the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Through this overwhelming victory, God has also empowered you to overcome any
temptation to sin and has provided sufficient resources for you to respond biblically to
any problem of life. By relying on God’s power and being obedient to His Word, you can be
an overcomer in any situation.

* As you obey God’s Word and rely on His stre
ngthening power, you can count on biblical
change to occur in every area of your life.

* The supreme challenge you will face in making Christ-honoring, biblical changes is dying
to self. The biblical perspective concerning “self” is exactly opposite to what the wisdom
of this world proclaims.

- I hope that helps some -- Context, Insight -- about all I can say.

this statement translates as "warning: If you don't understand this then your are not adept, lack understanding, training or experience" seems kind of prideful and arrogant.

why don't you discuss this with average Sunday-go-to-churchers?

I don't really see anything you said that sounded all that complicated or that involved either training or experience in the realm of the demonic or deliverance ministries.

You should be telling EVERYBODY these things:

what does it mean and is it helping or hurting the church?

The Ministry of Deliverance

A educated deliverance minister should be knowledgeable with all three of these very important elements, and be prepared to address them without hesitation:

Inner healing: Many times when a person has been abused, rejected, wounded, or hurt in some way, there is an emotional wound that needs to be healed. Demons will use these wounds and weaknesses against the person, as leverage to hold them in bondage and get them to re-open doors so that they can re-enter. Inner healing is a vital step in the overall restoration process that needs to take place in the lives of many who are seeking deliverance. There is more information on this process in the teaching Steps to Inner Healing.

Tearing down strongholds: Strongholds are incorrect thinking patterns that people develop over time, and are often set up and nurtured by demons through lies and deception. Demons thrive on strongholds, and use them to hang around a person and torment them. I recommend reading the teaching on Strongholds for a clear insight into exactly what a stronghold is, and how to go about tearing them down. Failing to tear down strongholds can hold up a deliverance and prevent us from walking in complete spiritual freedom.

Removing legal rights: Legal rights are things that give demons permission to enter and remain in our lives. Before demons can often be cast out, it is important to address and remove these legal rights. The teaching on Legal Rights lists the most common legal rights and how you can go about removing them. Failing to remove legal rights can hold up a deliverance very easily.

Casting out the demons: This requires two basic elements: knowledge of your authority in Christ Jesus over the powers of the enemy, and faith in that authority. Demons are cast out with a simple spoken command, such as, "I command the spirit of fear to come out in the name of Jesus!" You can learn more about your authority and how it works from the teaching on Spiritual Authority.
there's nothing nonsense about deliverance ministries, I'm sorry for the ignorance of the other Christians. I'm training in deliverance right now, you might want to include in your article dealing with possessions, that's a basic as well. It's really sad when Christians know nothing about the basics of being a christian. we are called to cast out demons, that is no small feat. and it's not an easy job, you have my respect for putting this up there.
