There is no evidence it did not ever rain before Noah's flood but some pastors quote that rain didn't come upon the earth before them. These pastors state it as fact.
The only evidence is from Genesis 2 below.
Genesis 2:4-6
[SUP]4 [/SUP]This is the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, [SUP]5 [/SUP]before any plant of the field was in the earth and before any herb of the field had grown. For the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground; [SUP]6 [/SUP]but a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground.
Notice in the passage above from Genesis 2 that it hadn't rained before God created plants and herbs and before man had been created. It does not say it didn't rain after God created man, plants, and herbs.
Even the passages about Noah seeing something no one had ever seen before does not mean no one had never rain before as in fact it is very well talking about no one had ever seen such a huge flood before so that doesn't prove it didn't rain yet before the flood.
Gen 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,
Gen 2:5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
Gen 2:6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
Gen 2:10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.
God did not cause it to rain, but there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground, which a river went out of Eden to water the garden.
But did it rain later on after Adam and Eve were ousted from the garden, because conditions were different that they had to them till the ground for food, instead of having it easy in the garden where they only had to dress the garden, like prune it,and there would be a cause for rain because of the different circumstance they were in concerning the ground and fending for their own food,by sowing and planting.
Gen 7:4 For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.
We do not read of rain again until the flood.
I do not believe that it rained upon earth until the flood, but misted up from ground, and by it never raining before could be one of the biggest reasons that the people did not believe Noah when he warned them of the flood, which I am sure he would have to tell them.
Gen 7:10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.
Gen 7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
Gen 8:1 And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged;
Gen 8:2 The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained.
The water came from beneath and above in the flood.
I do not believe it rained until the flood.
Gen 9:12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:
Gen 9:13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
Gen 9:14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
Gen 9:15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
Gen 9:16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
Also rainbows came in to being at this time, and not before.
