I once met a baptist man that said ever since Jesus came God has not been angry at all at anybody or anything that happens in this world...hmmm...I don't know what to say to that besides, "That's not my experience of either God or Jesus Christ."
First there is sin. I do not think God is smiling when He sees it, yes He gets upset, and I believe He still gets angry, even as a father might that truly saw everything his children do...and then there are things like abortion and rape and murder that I think 'vex' God and cause his wrath to pour over...
Second, while I DO believe that God's wrath is satisfied with the death of Christ, I DO NOT believe that means he is no longer mad at anyone or anything...as if after Jesus Christ, God were to say, "Do whatever you want" and then smile while you became immersed in darkness...note: I am saying I do not believe that.
Third, there is a great mystery in that Paul says he is suffering to bring to completion the sacrifice of Christ...something I have never seen a preacher focus on, for it is only a few words that Paul remarks upon his suffering...but I think the Lord does still release wrath upon those who dwell in unrepentant sin...and if the saying that is true for Christian folk just as it is true for the ungodly that "There are consequences for your actions", I know not how Christians would say that personally but "God's wrath is against the sinner."
Just my thoughts, what are yours?
God bless
