Everyone knows it, they have experienced it one way or another in life and its known as fear. For a Christian fear is not just an emotion you feel like being scared of clowns or spiders although many are. To a christian Fear is the opposite of faith and fear ties in with doubt, and thus it makes it difficult to have faith if you have fear and doubt.
I mean how many times in both the nt and the ot has God said fear not? I think there is a good reason for him saying this, if we have fear we doubt God and if we doubt God how can he work and show his great power in our lives and heart? Fear is not of God and does not come from God, it comes from the enemy and is like a virus for us as Christians.
So how does one rid of fear? for many simply choosing to trust God even in the brink of death has always worked-heck when the tornado came to oklahoma that was apparently the biggest one ever in oklahoma it was heading right towards me my power went out and I was in a closet my family happened to be on the other side of okc safe because they were visiting my sister so it was just me alone.
I was being faced with what seemed like certain death, but I was in my closet and I prayed to God. I did not pray for him to save me I simply said Lord whether I live or die let your will be done, I hand my life over to you. and somehow the tornado changed direction and avoided me, or at least thats what I heard happened I myself only knew that God had spared my life.
I dont know how but I completely trusted God in that situation, i wasnt afraid I was at peace.
another thing about fear is that apparently its a choice. I saw a movie a while back I forgot what it was called and it was about a boy and his dad will smith. the story goes that there was an alien race that killed humans but they had no eyes and couldnt smell you. How they found you was they literally could smell fear and will smith was the first man to Ghost aka choosing to have absolutely no fear so he could not be seen by them and killed them.
It kind of makes sense to me though, that we can choose not to be afraid. I honestly dont know how to do that, I still fear and I still doubt. But God always assures us not to be afraid because he is with us, so even when I am afraid I pray to him and the more I pray the less afraid I become. Just simply talking to him in the state of fear makes the fear die out.
I admit since I have been attacked by a demon in my room in the dark before sometimes when I turn out the light to go to bed I am overcome by terror and I dont know why, its almost as if they are there in my room and i can almost see them. But then I pray to God and the fear goes away.
I have what you might call a spiritual eye sight, When it comes to spiritual things like demons or angels I dont see with my physical eyes just my spiritual ones. I never saw like this until I became a Christian and thats how I saw the demons and how I met an angel once.
