I most certainly believe in the bible, the inspired word from God who even allows secular quotes from other sources to be in the bible as well as apostle narratives, these other verses have a purpose and meaning...
Example of a secular quote.
Titus 1:12
One of Crete's own prophets has said it: "Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.
Example of a apostle narrative
Luke 1:1
Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us,
its a book full of spiritual wisdom from God. examples " you must crucify the flesh" " if your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out" " i beat my body into submission " " i run the race marked out for me" ..... almost the entire new testament rewuires Gods spirit for understanding, " The words i speak to you are spirit and Life" " we speak to you spiritual truths, in spiritual words" ..... if you think of it, we havent seen the things we believe, and much of what is taught us are things we cant see. Heaven, spirit, hell, resurrection.....
Surely it is Gods litteral word, But we all know that God is spirit. I like what u said there even the commentary and seemigly insignificant narrations are relevant to our learning for our good.
there have been sects over the years who literally beat themselves, and put nails through thier hands and feet attempting to "crucify the flesh" its definately something that we need to go to the Lord in prayer for understanding or it will lead our human minds astray
