I didn't watch, but i know about Homeschooling. When its done right, it is a better option than school. The children are often more educated, have a broader range of experiences and interests, and do not have problems with socialization. Many high level colleges and universities seek out home schooled children because they recognize the potential of how well they do.
But the catch is, not all people do it right, or for the right reasons. This is where home schooling gets a bad reputation. Homeschooling is a full time job that requires commitment and work. Its not about throwing some books in front of your kid and saying 'read and learn' while you sit on Facebook. That's just lazy.
Or some people see it as a chance to isolate your child from everything, and those are the ones who suffer from socialization problems. And while there is a positive side of helping to spare your children from too much negative influence, but children need to see the world as it is as well. But homeschooling lets you dictate that more, instead of handing your kids off to a stranger and a bunch of other children with who knows what kind of habits and attitudes.
I know a home schooling mother, and she is in a group for home schoolers. Most of the mothers complain they are TOO busy doing activities, that they have to make more time for school (Hence the evidence, that when done right, children are not lacking socialization). They are usually going to museums, field trips, sports activities, music lessons, etc.. getting out of the house and into the world.
