I find myself often looking at the world thinking "where you raised by a pack of wolves?" then I think how would I want to raise my kids to be and what I hope they learn from me. Here is the list:
- God always comes first.
- Family always comes second.
- Above all, fear God.
- Respect authority (trust and obey your parents.) I am still amaze at how some people treat their parents and even more amazed at the fact that the parents put up with it.
- It is okay not to be cool.
- Be respectful to elders.
- Show compassion for others.
- Apologize when you are wrong. People will respect you more if you can admit when you are wrong.
- Clean up your mess. You would be surprise how many people I see make a giant mess and leave it for someone else to clean.
- Say please and thank you.
- Address people as sir and ma'am. It goes a long way.
- Mom and Dad won't always be there to save you when you screw up.
- Learn from everything.
- Friendships are important.
- Real strength is found in serving, not in being served.
- It is okay to fail.
- How to carrying on good conversation.
- Life isn’t fair don’t compare with or be jealous of others.
- Express grace and forgiveness.
- A strong work ethic.
- Surrender to the authority of Christ.
- Respect the dignity of another person and of all people.
- Be faithful in the little things.
- Character is the basis of all leadership.
- You can not get everything.
- Be grateful. If my child cries and throws a fit because they do not think I gift I got them on their birthday is not good enough I will just return all the gifts.
- If you break your phone because you want the newer one that just came out you are SOL.
