Contrary to what some people believe baptism is essential for salvation.
Jesus said a person must be born of the water and Spirit.
Baptism also does now save us,not the washing away of the filth of the flesh, but a good conscieneness towards God.
If we are planted together with Jesus in the likeness of His death,we shall also rise with Him in the likeness of His resurrection.
The man Christ Jesus is human, and died, was buried, and rose from the dead.
The saints are human, and must go through the same three things as the man Christ Jesus to identify with Him,but we do it symbolically, and are a living sacrifice unto God.
We repent of our sins, which means turn away from sins, and are water baptized, which is for the remission of sins, and we receive the Holy Spirit.
The thief on the cross acknowledged Jesus as Lord and Savior when he said,Lord remember me when You come into your kingdon, and Jesus said, today you will be with Me in paradise.
Baptism can be bypassed in certain situations, could not get to it and perished, lack of understanding and perished.
A person should get baptized when they sorry for all their sins they have ever committed, and does not want sin anymore, then baptism will wash away their sins, and if they sin after that, give it up,and do not hold unto sin,and the blood of Jesus washes it away.
The Bible says if a person wilfully sins then there is no more sacrifice for sins, which if we sin the blood of Jesus washes the sin away, but if we hold unto sin the blood of Jesus cannot wash it away, for Jesus will not take away sin that we want to hold unto, and if a person sins, repents of the sin,and holds unto it,and then sins, repents of the sin,and holds unto it,they are truly not repenting of that sin,for it means to let go of the sin,as if you were holding unto a wolverine clawing your face to shreds, let it go.
That sin is clawing you to shreds spiritually, let it go.
