Algeria has opened a rehab clinic for addiction to the internet.
By no means the first, they join a number of other countries that recognize this as a public health concern.

This is a real issue. What does it do to societies on large scales? What does it say about - and what are the implications of - a culture that fully embraces this? IS this all 'old codger' talk or a serious problem? Is there a 'good' way to integrate this kind of internet connectivity into people's day to day lives? Is it inevitable? How 'unplugged' should we be vs. 'plugged' ?
