I aint much of a blogger- but it went down somethin like this...

The sun would dip low behind a wide horizon line on those summer nights back near Girvin-

Yeah - if you ever thought you knew what being in the middle of nowhere was like - try visiting Girvin corners in the Lone Star State dont just drive thorugh it--- just stay the night - sleep in the car or beside it - it dont matter - no ones around to see you do yer business or get dressed or mumble to yourself while you dream under them big ol stars that will look down on yer sorry butt for being there in the first place--

It never had a middle ground to it for me...

It was either to hard to understand how so much soul could be spilled into that Texas dirt over such a long period of time - or it was the sweetness of Gods hand sweeping across the plains and pulling up small desert flowers i used to pick when i could as a girl back there-

The stoop or porch steps on our house was a rickety old shaky thing - once painted white - flaking off - piece by piece and blowing away in the winds that struck it all the time -

- id sit there and look across them plains and hope my pa wouldnt wake up outta his drunken slumber till later so i could get my flower pickin time in before the pain from his hands smashing on me made my ankles swell up reel bad in the western sun -

- and even after them hands were raised to me like mill hammers and my weepin was done -

---- id still find a way to look for them yellow trumpets - even if i had to limp a mile or two to find them....

Praise God!
