Hi Rose,
Amen to what Princessde said. In the Bible, in Romans 3:23 it says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." That means that everyone is guilty of sin before a Holy and Righteous God. Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death...." and if that were the end of the story, we would all be in a lot of trouble.
But God, in his infinate wisdom and mercy, knowing that we could do nothing to save ourselves, made a way of escape for us. Like Princessde pointed out, in John 3:16 Jesus tells us, "God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life." Jesus is the only begotten Son of God. When he was here on earth, he lived a perfect, sinless life, keeping God's holy law. He himself said, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill." (Matthew 5:17). Then he gave his life on the cross, as a perfect, sinless sacrifice giving his life for the world.
Looking back at Romans 6:23 again, it says, "For the wages of sin is death, BUT the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 5:6-10 says, "For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life."
In 1 Corinthians 15:3-6, the Gospel is put this way: "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once...."
Now, to be saved from your sins, first you must understand that you are a sinner, and be willing to repent, or turn away from, your sins. In Acts 17:24-31, when the Apostle Paul was witnessing to a bunch of people in Greece, he says, "God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as thou he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, thou he be not far from every one of us: For in him we live, and move and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device. And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man [Jesus] whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead."
But Romans 10:9-11 says, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed."
If you sincerely believe the word of God, that you are a sinner worthy of death and judgement, but that God in his mercy sent his Son, Jesus Christ to die in your place, and you are ready to place all of your faith in him, simply pray and tell him that, and you will be saved.
Don't wait! Hebrews 10:28-31 gives us this warning: "He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thiing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God."
Let me just end with John 3:16-18 again: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved" ~Acts 16:31
