I work for a Christian non-profit that serves at-risk youth. I coordinat the tutoring center, and to be honest I really don't like working here. My boss is terrifying. She is very prim and proper. Before founding this ministry, she was a professional opera singer. She likes everything just so. I am always afraid that I've forgotten something or I didn't do it right. Inevitably, she finds something wrong with everything I plan. You see, I kind of go with the flow. I like things to be organized, but it something doesn't go as planned it doesnt really bother me much. I can be flexible. I don't think she can. I also struggle with long-term planning. My job is very stressful and the stress makes it difficult for me to perform well. My job description should apply to about 12 people, but somehow she is very disappointed when I cannot do everything the way she wants it.
Here's today's scenario... she texts frantically to see if we got a gift for the choir teacher. Tonight was our very first concert. I hadn't thought about it, but her response was "It's protocol!!!" How was I suppose to know? Anyways, I frantically called my assistant who didn't answer. Eventually he showed up 15 minutes late with flowers. I was very specific with him more than once that he needed to have cocoa and cookies with the parents, get them to help with a bit of the cleaning, and bring them down at 5:55. He agreed. Well, apparentally even though I told him a time to come down, he thought I should signal him... and my bos was frantic when I told her he was going to bring them down at 5:55 and he hadn't even begun getting everyone ready at 6:00. So I got snapped at. I needed to be downstairs to sing with the kids and manage them.
So I really don't want to work here. My love my boss as a person, but I can't stand her as a boss. Unfortunately, I have no other options for work. I'm looking for a roommate because my rent is 50% of my income and that will help a little, but I need a specific type of roommate.
Help Jesus!
