WAGGLES - My testimony
Healed miraculously by the power of God
I grew up in the late 1960s to early 1970s.
I prospered as part of the family business; a medium sized continental and
rye breads bakery.
When I was 22 years old my Dad died of cancer only aged 46 years.
I was devastated by this tragedy and this completely changed my
weltanschauung on life.
I moved away from believing in working hard for future success and became
involved in the alternative lifestyle or hippy culture of the time.
I began living for the day rather than working towards any future success
or rewards.
So eventually I took up marijuana, cigarettes, a lot more alcohol, a bit of heroin
on occassion and of course the hippy favourites of LSD and magic mushrooms.
My second wife was a junkie and I also started with shooting up amphetamines [speed].
I worked on and off over the years during all this, but by the time I was 40 I was
pretty wrecked. Can you believe I ended up a scrawny skinny undernourished
skeleton of a man.
I wanted a way out of my predicament and my circumstances.
A junkie wife, my drug addictions and three children that I could offer no hope to
for their futures.
So I tried suicide by walking out onto a main road and allowing a truck to hit me full on.
Not only did that not work, but a car pulled up immediately and a woman declared
"don't worry, I'm a doctor."
God was already on the job.
In late 1996 I walked out of our shopping centre onto the street mall and there it was.
A testimony from a former hippy who had been miraculously healed from her lifestyle,
heroin addiction and hepatitis C.
I knew that was what I wanted for myself, but my Roman Catholic faith did not have
room for such transformations through believing the gospel and being baptised in water
and in the Holy Spirit.
A bloke came over to talk to me, and I asked him "Is this true?"
To which he replied yes and showed me other testimonies on the board;
and went on to give his.
He opened up his KJV Bible and read out many scriptures concerning the receiving of
the Holy Spirit abnd the power and work of the Holy Spirit in a believer's life.
That day those scriptures came off the page and entered my heart.
I was troubled by these scriptures and kept thinking what if I need to do this to
really get this Holy Spirit?
I prayed a lot to Jesus to lead me to his truth. But meanwhile I would go to
Catholic Mass in the mornings and the Pentecostal service in the afternoons.
I wasn't ready to let go as yet.
After a Wednesday night meeting I was asked if I wanted to be baptised
[by full immersion] and immediately the Lord spoke to me citing scriptures.
I knew then and there that for all of my life Jesus had been waiting for this
commitment from me.
So I underwent water baptism in the name of the Father, the Son,
and the Holy Ghost; confessing my faith.
Nothing really changed dramatically for me. I remained a drug addict and a
petty criminal. I was remorseful of my circumstances and at both churches I
would cry a loy and feel repentant, but when I came home it was life as usual.
While in the prayer room on Sunday, 1st December 1996 seeking for
the infilling of the Holy Spirit, God baptised me with his Spirit and I spoke out
in tongues as Jesus said that believers would.
But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel;
After those days, says the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts,
and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother,
saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the
greatest of them, says the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember
their sin no more. Jeremiah 31:33-34
That very Sunday I was instantly healed from all my addictions and lifestyle.
There and then without any withdrawl pangs.
God went on to heal my kidneys (I had a great deal of blood in my urine which was
the colour of coffee) and my smoker's lungs in pretty short time as I prayed in my
new spiritual language every day.
Jesus healed my soul and my heart, my mind and body, he healed my
life wonderfully and miraculously.
The Holy Spirit cast out all of my demons and the Holy Spirit burns up my chaff
as a pray daily in tongues.
And now I too can lay hands on others and pray for them to be healed and set free.
It has been 21 years of walking in the Spirit being an overcomer and my life and
my faith are grounded and rooted in Christ Jesus and in the gospel once delivered
to the saints.
Oh and I'm not so scrawny these days, he has blessed me abundantly - too abundantly
perhaps, as I have put on a bit of weight.
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believes not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they
shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them;
they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
