Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1: 13-16
Here's how to handle binding behaviors: (Dr. Charles Stanley)
First: Identify the behavior. Be honest with yourself or ask a trusted friend. Denying the problem prevents you from experiencing victory and hope.
Second: Take responsibility for the behavior. No matter how small or large the behavior may aeem, admit it exists and that you are responsible for it's presence.
Third: Trace the behavior to the source. When were you programmed to think this way? Ask God to show you. Low self-esteem, feelings of rejection, or helplessness all have begining points and these behaviors lead to other habits that weaken our self - concept.
Fourth: Forgive yourself, and others who have hurt you. Forgiveness is something you do for yourself so that you can experience freedom from bitterness and resentment. Harboring angry feelings can lead to physical and emotional health problems. Vengeance belongs to God. Let Him have your hurt and pain and He will take care of the situation.
Fifth: Renew your mind with the truth of God's Word. When you do this, you will discover that God loves you more than you can imagine. You also will receive needed strength and hope.
I did just post this in another. These concepts have helped me. I hope they do the same for you.
Dearest Father,
I lift up Lady4Him before you. Reach out to her and let her know she is not alone, nor is she forsaken. Teach her of your forgiveness and lead her on the path to know the Victory which she might live in. In your blessed name, I pray. Amen
