I have a boss who is a really sweet man. He is sly, so I cannot read him. And if I could, my interpretation is probably off.
Either way, I am so blessed by this man. You see, I was not looking for work with him when I was given the opportunity.
But when I shared I was about to take another job, a few years ago, he said, "Had I known, I would have hired you. I'll hire you now." But I prayed and God led me another way, the needed way.
However, when I needed work again, intentionally seeking adoption into a fast-working fam, he took me in that week.
Since then, now that the novelty is gone, I have days where I want out of the intense atmosphere. (It can go from no activity, to needing the whole bench.) Well, I just need to practice the praise of what a blessing my boss is. I have met countless people who have been grateful to how he's touched their lives with his charity and compassion.
He may come across as "Mr. Cool," but he has a heart for people. And my prayer is that he softens in some areas. But part of my prayer is that I may be like him. No, not the praise or the pay. Rather, I wish to exhibit the qualities I see on and off the job-- in him.
The take-away here is,
"Lord, help me to count how he has blessed. And help me to keep praying for blessings in his personal life. Of course, Thank You for how You gave me work and someone from whom I can learn. Help me to smile in heart and on face, even when the it is tough. And help me to encourage the man, as well as the boss. After all, you love him-- both . In Jesus' name, your will be done. amen."
