As a young adult in grad school I struggle with this on countless occasions. Just because I pray and read my bible each day it does not mean that God will bless me with that A on the exam even though I put many hours into it. I think that many of us have a misconception that God works in some type of mathematical way; do this and this and this result is sure to follow. Though it does work like that on numerous accounts, many times it doesn't. Sometimes we try and try, pray and pray and yet still things dont seem to be where we want them to be. I suppose this is called a trial. Life lesson learnt from my recent trials, keep on pushing but how about seeking God's face (as in a more intimate relationship with him) instead of just his hands (as in always reaching out to him for his blessings). Just a thought.
p.s to all the students out there, keep pushing and dont give up on your dreams especially if it is what God has called you to. It may be hard but he wont leave you
