Jesus words....
matthew 4:17 "from that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”
luke 13:2-9" "Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? I tell you, no! But UNLESS YOU REPENT YOU TOO WILL ALL PERISH.. Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you Repent you too will all perish.”
Then he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it but did not find any. So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, ‘For three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’
“ ‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone for one more year, and I’ll dig around it and fertilize it. If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.’ ” this parable regards repentance onviously...( see john ch 15)
okay so its clear that Jesus made clear, repentance in required. but what about paul?
colossians 3:5-10 " Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator"
" put to death these actions, you used to live like this, but now YOU MUST RID YOURSELVES of all these things"
Romans 8:12-13 "Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live." (again paul makes it a matter of life and death, just like Jesus. again ?) if you live according to the flesh you will die)
ephesians 5:3-7 "but among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them."
again failure to repent of sin disqualifies people from the kingdom."Let no one deceive you with empty words, you can be certain of this : no immoral impure or greedy person has any inheritance in Gods kingdom"
galatians 5:19-21 " the acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God." ( again the acts of the flesh disqualify the inheritance)
Paul is not unclear about repentance from sin, Just Like the gospel teaches. repentance is required just like the foundation of a house. the writers of hebrews we see that repentance from acts of death ( sin) is elementary and basic teaching.hebrews 6:1 "Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God,"
if anyone is teaching you that grace nullifies your behavior obligation to God, they are leading you astray. if anyone claims repentance is a bad thing, or a "work of the flesh" they are telling you the opposite of the truth. if anyone is preaching something other than the principles and teachoings of Jesus Christ, they are not teaching you the gospel. you will see Jesus principles in all of the new testament. Just like Jesus said " unless you repent you too will all persish" paul said " if you live according to the sinful nature you will die" same principle, different words. all of the gospel is reflected this way in the nt writers. the principles of Jesus Christ are trustworthy and eternal, the gospel. Listen to Him. repentance is not a bad thing, it is not oppressive, it is not just thinking different, it means what it meant always....stop sin from controlling your life, you once had no choice, but no we have no excuse because of Jesus and His " finished work"
new age thinking, new ideas about what "God really said" ect just deception trying to blind us to the truth, but we Know Jesus the Truth. Don't be deceived by people who themselves have accepted a lie, Trust Jesus.
All glory, praise, honor, power and majesty belongs to God, and to His Son who sits at His right Hand He is worthy.
