Mario, I have been lucky-- but I am unlucky with applications. People have hired me after meeting me, so I get how frustrating the application-first process can be a headache and a heartache. Not to mention, it gets repetitive.
Craigslist is good for ideas, but never post your home address, social, or resume-- unless you've done your homework.
I also suggest sharing with your local friends on Facebook. Ask for prayer and even ask for certain times to pray for you (while you go to apply, interview, first day on the job, etc.). I don't suggest broadcasting your need via a public status update, but do tap those who care about you.
Friends are honest, so some of them may sound condescending. But ask them to quiz you, or ask if you can pitch your idea for the job you really want. Of course, there is the money/living aspect, but there is also the "is it going to kill me" question to consider. Don't just pray for the money, pray for direction. But work with what you've got (skills, interests, openings, current discernment) and God will work with you.
For local ideas: Go to libraries, they offer free classes. Go to coffee shops, they often have local ads for employment. Contact
Vocational Rehabilitation - California Department of Rehabilitation and see if they can help. (That is a CA group to help people find work.) Also, Goodwill is a foot-in-the-door for many people. Then there are always churches, especially in the burbs.
Go to the largest ones in your area for classes and ads. But don't overlook the smaller ones.
I was two weeks from not having a place to live.
God supplied in a conversation at a Target.
He also allowed me to grow through the unemployment phase.
Remember: He is with you, regardless of your health, wealth, or employment status.
That's meant to encourage, not shame.
