Hey everyone,
(I honestly didn't know how many threads I'd written on CC until someone pointed it out to me in another thread, so today I was thinking, Might as well pass that milestone! )
I had a conversation with a friend I grew with about the various milestones we look forward to in our lives. I don't know if it seems like this to anyone else, but when my friend and I were young, it seemed like there was a constant stream of milestones to pass: moving on to high school (we went to the same Christian school K-8th grade), turning 13, getting our license, first car, turning 18, graduating high school, turning 21, graduating college, living independently, getting our first full-time jobs, first house or apartment...
What happens after you grow up and all the "major" milestones (at least here in the USA) have been passed? My friend now looks forward to her kids' milestones as way of constantly setting goals and having something to look forward to.
Me? Because I don't have a family of my own and the possibility of marriage feels like "something somewhere out in the great beyond", I often wonder if my only milestone left... is applying for Medicare and social security!!!
What are some major milestones that you've met or passed in your life? Did you feel overwhelmed, excited, or were you just glad they were over? And now that you may be older, what milestones are you looking forward to (or maybe even not looking forward to) next?
