Acts 1:1...(a) “The former account I
made”.
1. This is what the NKJV says. The KJV says: “The former treatise I made” It is
the same idea anyway. The NASB says: “The former account I composed”
The idea, of all of these Bible versions is that before Acts was written there
was another one already in place.
2. The Gospel of Luke?
3. Some erroneously believe that the word FORMER (protos) is the first of
more than two.
a. Luke 1:1-3.
4. This is the order, and this is the one that Luke is referring to when he says in
the former... There is no evidence or excuse to say that Luke is referring to
any other book but the book of Luke.
Acts 1:1(b)... O Theophilus... Acts
Theophilus
A real person? Yes, A Christian or an
unbeliever? Most likely a Christian!
“most excellent”
Greek term for “most excellent” is (kratiste) this term was
sometimes used as a title for someone of rank. It is a term Paul
used in addressing:
Felix... Acts 23:26; 24:3...
Festus. Acts 26:25...
Acts 1:1(c)... of all that Jesus
began both to do and teach,

In Luke 1:1(former treaties),,,Luke states that others had set forth the things that they, "surly believed among us" so isn't he saying that there were already books recounting the same things that they believed e.g. Matt.,mark, john ect.?

Acts 1:2...(b)... after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen,
Christ worked and taught through the “Holy Spirit.” Christ gave and taught His commandments to those
whom He had chosen, His apostles... Which ones, what commandments?
Acts 1:8; Romans 8:5; Romans 8:13 Ephesians 5:18; 1 John 2:27
Acts 1:2...(c)... “after He through the
Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen,No other commandments hasJesus given but the ones He gave to His apostles. When Luke is talking about apostles; we must understand that outside of these ones that Jesus chose, there are NO other apostles...The presumption of some to call themselves “apostles” is only that presumption! Jesus did not
recognize:
Joseph Smith... Mormons
Charles Russell... Jehovah Witnesses.
Mohammad...Muslims.
Etc...These are “false Apostles”
A thought for you and I... Every believer is a chosen servant of God to carry on His mission, every believer is to be
proclaiming the glorious message of Hope to a world lost and doomed to death!
2 Timothy 2:2...
Matthew 18:19, 20...
John 20:21...

Acts 1:3...(a)... “to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs...”
To whom, who are these? The apostles! One of the requisites to being an apostle of Jesus was to be a witness of His baptism, and also of his resurrection...Peter says that this is the proof, for a real witness or apostle...Acts
1:21,22... Acts 1:3...(b)... “to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs...”
The KJV says “After his passion” The word “passion” (phatein) means “suffering; it refers to the suffering or
death of Christ. His death and resurrection assured the salvation of man. By death He paid the penalty for
man’s sin. 1 Peter 2:24...1 Peter 3:18... Romans 6:4...1 Corinthians 15:20-23...2 Corinthians 5:17...Ephesians 1:19-20...Ephesians 2:4-10. Acts 1:3...(c)... being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. These are the infallible proofs! Jesus appeared for forty days after being in the heart of the
earth or the tomb for 3 days and 3 nights!! Jesus’ Resurrection Jesus appeared at least ten times Jesus Appearances... John 20:30, 31; 21:25 1. He appeared to Mary Magdalene (Mark 16:9-11; John 20:11-
18). 2. He appeared to the woman running to tell the disciples about the empty tomb (Matthew 28:8-10)
3. He appeared to Peter, probably to assure him of his restoration. (Luke 24:34; 1 Corinthians 15:5).
4. He appeared to the two Emmaus disciples sometime early in the evening (Mark 16:12; Luke 24:13-42).
5. He appeared to the disciples with Thomas absent (Mark 16:14; Luke 24:36-43; John 20:19-25).
Jesus’ Appearances... John 20:30, 31; 21:25 6. One week later He appeared to the disciples who had gone
fishing (John 20). 7. He appeared to 500 believers (1 Corinthians 15) 8. He appeared to the apostles (Matthew 28:16-20; Mark 16:15-18). 9. He appeared to James, the Lord’s half-brother (1 Corinthians 15:7) 10. He appeared to the believers at His ascension (Mark 16:19-20; Luke 24:44-53; Acts 1:3-12) Let’s keep in mind that after Jesus’
ascension unto heaven, He had appeared at least two other times: Jesus Appearances... John 20:30, 31; 21:25
He appeared to Stephen at his death (Acts 7:55-56). He appeared to Paul on the road to
Damascus (Acts 9:3)
