God is Love..
All that comes from God is Love.
The 2 Love principles are also from God ,.... Love God and Love your neighbour.
On these two love principles hangs all the laws and prophets
The 10 commandments make it even clearer, what it means to Love. The first four show how to love God and the last 6 how to Love your neighbour.
Jesus went into more detail ...
Mat 5:21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: 22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
Mat 5:27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

God does not Change.

Jesus said the two sum up all of the law. To understand the two we study the ten. One could go further and say that understanding the two and the ten comes from the study of the entire law. We know that the ceremonies and feasts were types and shadows of Christ. So when we read these we understand more about Christ. When we read the civic law for example the laws about if an ox gores someone. We understand that we are responsible for our animals and the damage they cause. And this has to do with loving our neighbor.

Should we try and keep the ten commandments

People can try to keep the 10 but they will fail -----as no human can keep the laws ----and the 10 are a part of all the other laws God gave -----so if you try to keep the laws you need to keep all the laws which are 613 -----Notice what it says here in James 2:10 -----keeps the WHOLE Law ---the whole laws is 613 ---if you fail in one --you fail in keeping them all -----

The 2 greatest laws is love God and love people and the law and the prophets hang on those 2 commandments.

Which these are laws of love, moral laws, which those laws always have to be obeyed for they are spiritual laws not physical laws.

Paul said we do not void out the law through faith but we establish the law.

Which the law is spiritual, holy, just, and good, which are the laws of love, moral laws.

The 10 commandments are laws of love towards God and people so they have to be obeyed.

That is why the Bible says that those who hold on to sin that goes against the 10 commandments will not inherit eternal life.

The Bible says love works no ill towards their neighbor therefore love is the fulfilling of the law and there are laws to not offend people in the 10 commandments.

We do not void out the law but we establish the law which means we live up to the law which we can do by the Spirit for a Spirit led person will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh for they have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts, and God will not allow them to be tempted above measure and will give them an escape from the temptation so they can bear it.

The OT Law was (and still is) to show us our sinfulness and inability to earn our way into heaven. That is why people had to sacrifice animals in the OT.
Jesus fulfilled the blood requirement, so all we need do is accept His salvation and walk in love. The just shall live by faith in the finished work of Christ.

Correct, for them = Israel, Christ on earth, to twelve apostles and tribes,
according to God's prophecy and LAW covenants to them, but:

Rightly Divided (2 Timothy 2:15) From “Things That Differ” (online)

From Christ in Heaven, To ONE apostle, Paul, for us, The ONE Body Of Christ,
ONE "law of faith (which 'worketh By LOVE')," According to the preaching
Of Jesus Christ, and Grace, According To The Revelation of The Mystery,
we:

“Fulfill ALL Of His Law, In "ONE Word: LOVE thy neighbor
as thyself!" (Galatians 5:14; Romans 13:8-10)
------------------------
Grace, Peace, And JOY In Christ, And In His Word Of Truth, Rightly
Divided
(+ I and II)!

To keep to what end? For salvation. You can't. To keep to glorify God and live the best life...sure.
As far as 10 or 2...the 2 are a summary of the 10. What it means to love God is entailed in the first 4. What it means to love others is contained in the last 6.
Loving God is found in Deuteronomy 6 and loving your neighbor is found in Leviticus 17. They aren't new commandments.

"But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory." 2 Corinthians 3:7-9

Why would anyone try to keep the ten commandments when their whole purpose was to bring condemnation and death??? I've got good news, you don't have to try and keep them anymore; there's a better way through the ministry of the Spirit.

If we obey the Gospel and keep Christ commands and the 4 commands sent down from the council at Jerusalem in Acts 15. we'll do fine and everything else will fall in line. Mathew 17:5 .... This is my Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye Him.

Matt 22:38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
Law
I am the Lord your God + Do not Murder = Principle - Don't do away with others
Do not make for yourself a graven image + Do not commit adultery = Principle - Don't betray relationships
Do not take the name of the Lord in vain + Do not Steal = Principle -Don't violate others
Remember the Sabbath and Keep it Holy + Do not bear false witness = Principle - Safeguard the truth
Honor your father and your Mother + You shall not covet = Principle - Don't devalue yourself

What Jesus said was a repeat of what was already said in The Old Testament. Deuteronomy Chapter 6 verse 5. Because those 2 commandments has all that is given in the 10 commandments. If you love God, you would honour God. Besides our God, there is no other God. etc. Honour your father and mother and the rest for the second of the 2 great commandments. If you love someone as you love yourself, you would not wrong that person. God's law is wholesome. Jesus just summarised what was given in the 10 commandments within the 2 great commandments. The 10 commandments do apply still even after what Christ did for us on the Cross. Especially after Jesus' sacrifice for us on the Cross.

If the 10 commandments show our sinfulness then we should still try to not sin even if we won’t get it perfect. Therefore, we should try to not break the 10 commandments. It’s not a good idea to throw in the towel and give in to sin under any circumstances.

Romans 6
1What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?

Jesus' death and the ransom He paid doesn't mean we get a free pass to do as we wish and get the Salvation God's sacrifice gives us. It means we make the sacrifice of Jesus count everyday by keeping what God wants us to keep and observe. The 10 Commandments are not obsolete. Of course, through our weakness, should we fail, it doesn't mean the end if we fail to keep the 10 commandments because of Jesus' sacrifice. Before Jesus, it was the standard for how we were judged by God. But after what God did for us, it means that we need not fear condemnation. Please refer Romans Chapter 8. Paul gives us the explanation regarding the Law of sin and death and Christ's victory over sin and death.
