Nowadays, we all have Bibles and can defend our faith quoting different passages out of our Bibles, including the New Testament. Right after Jesus was crucified, they had no New Testament. What did they base their faith on? Whatever it was, would it still work today?
RIf you read what happened after Jesus rose from the dead, what did he teach the Apostles?
Infact go the beginning of Acts, now we see they still did not fully understand, have a read for yourself you will see it, Jesus explained it and all that had been taught to them from all of Scripture became apparent to them.. It's all ther Ress. That is why, we had the Apostles, thats wehy God Chose them.
It is a well known fact that the letter of James was written AD 45 (app). Now the careful reader will notice how similar it is to Matthew's sermon on the mount.
We also know that there plenty of written records that we do not have now, they were probably snippets. Check out Lukes statements.
So the Fact is, if we never had the NT or the original Apostles, we would not have a clue, for man would have distorted it las he does now and that is with the Scripture, what would it be like without it?????
Another point is that nearly 2 thirds of the NT are direct or indirect quotes from the OT,
remember Jesus saying.. 'It is written''! were was it written? the OT,
The reasons we have real problems in the church today is because of Biblical illiteracy, and thats even those christian who have been saved for years but still drink milk.
OT _ Promises made
NT- promises fulfilled.
They are 2 parts of one record.
Its a good question Ress, but its a no goer, because God ordained that we have a written record....
